This won't win you any respect from your serious rock critic friends, but if you enjoy early-'60s pop and are willing to put up with a few smirks, this is lightweight pap of the first order. Most of this 20-song collection of early- and mid-'60s sides is quite infectious, in fact, with Peggy's sprightly vocals, songwriting that weaves together some of the better elements of Brill Building and teen-idol pop, and full production that goes heavy on the female backup vocals and light symphonic string arrangements. Includes all her hits, as well as a couple surprisingly tough numbers and the California pop-influenced "He Couldn't Care Less." Also includes rare, quality early compositions by Randy Newman ("Leave Me Alone") and Leon Huff ("Can't Stop Thinking About Him").
