3.5 out of 5 stars Steve Loewy, All Music Guide
A good choice of tunes and an unpretentious style characterize this disk. Chiaraluce strums a quiet, tasteful guitar that strolls through thirteen tracks, only two of which were written by the leader. There is no new ground broken, but the guitarist very sensitively touches his bases without pandering to commercial concerns. He can play with speed and complexity when he decides to, but usually he is content with an emphasis on subtlety. Paolino Dalla Porta is a nice addition on bass, and the excellent choice of the masterful drummer Daniel Humair rounds out the trio. This is one for a lazy Sunday afternoon, with a cool drink in hand. It will not raise any eyebrows, but it is good, solid jazz played carefully and passionately, if quietly. David Ielmini's comparison in the liner notes of Chiaraluce's playing to Jim Hall's is apt.
