Buddhadev Das Gupta belongs to a worthy tradition of sarod playing whose most famed stylists were Mohammed Amir Khan (circa 1873-1934) and Radhika Mohan Mairta (1917-1981). Born February 1, 1933, in Bhagalpur in Bihar, Buddhadev Das Gupta's playing is taste personified. He is also a contributor to a work-in-progress for Nimbus with the working title of The Raga Project.
