James A. Gardner's professional writing career predates not only the Internet, but word processing on personal computer. Possibly even paper. He has worked in both academic and popular publishing, as a writer and editor, since the days when vinyl was not just the cool format for records, it was the only format. Since the early 70's, he's clubbed and bar-banded with a passel of rock and roll combos. In 1997, he and his band Red Almighty Mars released a c.d. of Gardner's songs, My Ever-Swinging Moods (www.iquest.~prokopy/RAM.html). Proceeds from sales of the c.d. benefit his local chapter of the American Cancer Society. Content in his obscurity, Gardner lives with his darling wife, Melinda, and their two adorable sons, Ryland and Delaney, in America's heartland. His motto is: "I want to be a perfectionist, but I'm just not good enough."
