Laura Minor

Laura Minor began her musical career after moving to Gainesville, FL, where she met fellow singer/songwriter Jared Flamm. Minor had long considered herself a serious writer and had in fact come to Gainesville to work on a book. Yet after singing Gram Parsons' "Return of the Grievous Angel" with Flamm at a party in April 2001, the two began adapting her writing, particularly her poems, into songs. Soon after reinventing herself as a music performer, she took her songwriting to the next level and signed with HighTone Records. She worked with David Lowery (Cracker, Camper Van Beethoven) and Brian Paulson (Beck, Uncle Tupelo) for her debut album, Salesman's Girl (2002). Lowery produced and Paulson-engineered the album, which mixes rock with country and includes several songs that reference her experiences growing up in Florida. ~ Jason Birchmeier, All Music Guide
