Metric
This world-weary and cultured duo honed their individual talents, Emily Haines at a Toronto art college and James Shaw at the Julliard School where he studied classical trumpet before traveling to Toronto. The group, named for its metered approach to musical structures, signed a publishing deal prior to releasing their debut album in September 2001 on Restless Records. Two years later, the group inked a deal with Everloving, formerly Enjoy Records, and issued Old World Underground, Where Are You Now? ~ Jason MacNeil, All Music Guide
