Nevermore's Dead World
With their fourth studio release, Seattle's Nevermore continued along their path of metal evolution, further exploring the sound they had created and built on years prior. The concept of this album is one of a bleak view on the modern state of the world, and it covers this in typical metal bleakness. Warrel Danes vocals continue to keep the bands metallic sound offset by a harmony, perhaps best exampled on this disc in 'Believe in Nothing'. The driving riffs are something that can be found within the genre virtually anywhere, but the rich guitar work laid down by Jeff Loomis creates an excellent backdrop for the rhythm section of the band. This album has a certain kind of flow perhaps native only to Nevermore, and easily stacks up with their best work to date.
