Bill Samsel's debut album on Brimstone Records will be released soon. It is entitled, "Renegade" and the reason is obvious when you listen to songs like "New World Order (comin' to your town)" and "For The Sheeple". One urges that something called the New World Order is coming to YOUR neighborhood and the other is a plea to awakening because 'everything has changed'. "Move it All to China", "Madison Avenue Mentality" and "Deprogram if You Can" take stabs at corporate globalism, commercialism and mass-media mind control.
In "Things are Today" Samsel sings that 'the people who make the rules...treat you just like a fool... and asks 'Hey, how do you like the way, things are today?' Samsel's vocal is somewhat reminiscent of Donovan, (remember him?) but Samsel plays around with timing and sylables in a way that makes his vocal rather unique.
The music has a tight, clean, jazzy feel to it on several tracks such as "NWO", "Deprogram if You Can", "Everything is Fine" and "Give Your Undyin' Love". But also turns to driving, pounding rock (as in "Move it All to China") or roots rocking reggae (as in "Goin' to Bermuda") and even a soft rock ballad (as in "For the Sheeple").
Samsel certainly is a renegade in more ways than one with this debut CD release. Full lyrics are provided and a note that reads..."The truth is out there" and lists RBNLIVE.COM and INFOWARS.COM because as Bill puts it, "We need more renegades!"
