Who was the greatest vocalist in the history of rock music. In my opinion, it is definitely Chris Cornell, then Freddie Mercury (I like Cornell's music better, so that breaks a tie). Who would you say is the best?

That's a hard choice. For me, it's a toss-up between Freddie Mercury, Mick Jagger, and Roger Daltrey.

Yeah those are all pretty badass...but you forgot Robert Plant!! And I personally think John Fogerty has a rockin' voice.

Chris Cornell is amazing, but I'm not sure I'd consider him the best rock vocalist ever... I don't know who is.

Don't forget about Steven Tyler. Robert Plant is awesome. Then again there's Elvis Presley.

I guess for me it depends on how the vocalist mixes with the music. You could have a really great vocalist but if the music doesn't suit the sound of his voice then it wouldn't really work. Imagine having Chris Cornell singing with the backing of the guys from Maroon 5 or the other way around.

Chris Cornell has really done a great job of sticking to bands where his voice is really appreciated.

How about Brad Delp from Boston, he is amazing! Chris Martin is the newest great vocalist too from Coldplay in my opinion.

One problem: Maroon 5 sucks . Most vocalists have a voice that fits a single style. However, Cornell has proved that he can pull off heavy fuzzed out grunge to softer acoustic songs.

Brad Delp's very good. Not one of the best IMO, but exceptional.

And Chris Martin? Well let's just say that he completely and entirely rips off Thom Yorke of Radiohead, who happens to be more talented. In fact, Thom Yorke, Radiohead = God.
