I don't think Slayer could be the heaviest. In fact, in my opinion they never were real heavy, though they are very fast and thrashy. I think the heavy award goes to Black Sabbath.

In Flames fans may dispute, but any band featuring Wino is always--always--the heaviest band on the planet, Janet.

I think any death/black metal band could be considered the heaviest in the world, so I'm saying Death or Sepultura

I'd agree to xourico to an extent, modern death metal (eg. Nile) can be pretty brutal but I'm of the opinion that slower songs can sound a lot heavier ie. tr00 doom metal!

That is true. Sevendust may not have a heavy vocalist but there riffs are pretty heavy.

I don't get what u mean by heavy, do u mean loud then ur would probably have to pick a death metal band, if ur talking about like a distinct sound I would pick like Black Sabbath or Tool because some of there songs the guitar is heavy and has the sound. Depends what ur talking about?!

the loudest, fastest, and most insane band ever

i'm gonna say "Aardtman op Vuurtopberg"... any death metal band could be concidered "heavy", but this drone doom band is heeeeeeeeeaaaaavyy... black metal isn't "heavy", it's just raw...

theres a diffrence between heavy, and raw

raw is loud, tough to listen to when its loud, and raspy screaming
heavy doesnt need to be loud to make you laugh on how rediculous it is

    but you knew that

Wow, stuck in different time periods are we? Anyone who thinks Black Sabbath is the heaviest now has ought to be stuck in a cave. Grindcore is heaviest now you silly!
