One of my first jazz LPs was Mingus Solo on piano. I had no idea he was a bassist. I believe he worked out his composition on the keys. Both are giants of jazz. In the spirit of Mingus and Monk, "long Live Jazz"

an "observation" I would make is that to really play Jazz one must know ones instrument, one must think outside the box,
I'm always reaching for that new epiphany....when I listen to Trane, I wonder how was that sound, his modal, melodic sound,
how did he hear that??????............when everyone esle was playing swing and bop......and how can I make an evolution like that, in the
current musical environment.........that's my question................
