    Okay, so you say:

Carter vs. __________ and then fill in the blank.  Pay attention, or you'll get detention.

One of my first jazz LPs was Mingus Solo on piano. I had no idea he was a bassist. I believe he worked out his composition on the keys. Both are giants of jazz. In the spirit of Mingus and Monk, "long Live Jazz"

can a musician be measured? like a quantity........? I don't think so............Jazz is a legacy.....a history..... and the contributions of early musicians are evolved and developed by those that come after them......so the question of whether Louis Armstrong is superior to Wynton Marsalis is a foolish question.....

A better question is what did Marsalis do with Armstrong to become who he is.............

an "observation" I would make is that to really play Jazz one must know ones instrument, one must think outside the box,

I'm always reaching for that new epiphany....when I listen to Trane, I wonder how was that sound, his modal, melodic sound,

how did he hear that??????............when everyone esle was playing swing and bop......and how can I make an evolution like that, in the

    current musical environment.........that's my question................
