Madonna to leave label?; Levine blasts Sharapova's bed manners; Allen fumes at Bush; Navarro directs porno; Doherty arrested--again.
Report: Madonna to leave label
Madonna is considering jumping ship from her label in favor of a unique arrangement with concert promotion giant Live Nation and another promoter in the UK, according to Fox News. The report said that Madonna has two more albums to release to fulfill her contract with Warner Music Group, which served as the parent company for Madonna's Maverick Records from 1992 to 2004.
The new deal could be worth $100 million to the Material Girl, the report said, especially considering her 2006 Confessions tour grossed an estimated $260.1 million, according to Billboard. Before any such deal materializes, however, Madonna will release her forthcoming album, an as-yet untitled album, and then a greatest hits album with WMG, the label she has been with throughout her career. Madonna has been signed to Warner to since 1982.
Levine on Sharapova: no groans, grunts
For possibly the first time in her life, tennis star Maria Sharapova has been compared to a dead frog. In an interview with Russian newspaper Exile, Maroon 5 frontman blasted Sharapova for her poor form in the bedroom and said bad sex was why he broke up with her.
"She wouldn't make any noise during sex," Levine said. "I can't tell you how disappointed I was. I really thought, like a lot of guys, that she'd be the loud screaming type. But instead, she just lay there like a dead frog. She even got angry if I started to moan, said it 'ruined her concentration.' It was so disillusioning that I went on Paxil for a month afterward. Really, it was much more of a shock than when I found out there's no such thing as the Easter bunny."
Lily Allen fumes at Bush
Unable to appear and perform at the MTV VMAs or fulfill a scheduled US fall tour because of visa problems, Lily Allen is fuming at the Bush Administration. In her set at the V Festival Saturday, Allen tossed some barbs at the US president and the country's immigration policies.
"This next one is about people who are awkward on the train, US immigration officials, and George Bush in general," she said before the song, "Everything's Just Wonderful." Allen later referred to Bush as a "f***ing c***," saying, "I've been banned from America. That's nice. Oh well, that means I can't go back there. Good."
Navarro directs porno movie
He probably has a catalog of home movies that would make Pamela Anderson blush, but Dave Navarro is taking his interest in matters of the genitalia to a new level. The famed guitarist and TV personality has directed a porno movie for adult film production company Teravision, according to adult film news site Xbiz.com.
"I'd always thought that I'd like to see an adult movie that looks like a Jane's Addiction album," Teravision executive producer Sancho told Xbiz. "Something with a lot of images and that was real organic-sounding--or looking, I should say--something that's deep, where you don't have to have your art spoon-fed to you." Yes, you definitely don't want your "art" spoon fed to you.
Titled Dave Navarro: Broken, the feature-length movie promises an all-star cast of adult performers and will be released on September 27. The film was described by Teravision as "a young woman torn apart by the duality of control and powerlessness in her life."
"First and foremost, I want it to be entertaining at home to people that want to experiment sexually," Navarro told the site. "That's what the goal is; so, I want to present hot scenes that people can get off watching. Ultimately, that's what this genre is."
Doherty arrested yet again
At a certain point here, it will be ground-breaking news if Pete Doherty is caught without drugs. The Baby Shambles frontman, in and out of court and court-imposed rehab stints for the better part of the past year, was arrested yet again for drug possession today, following his band's performance at the V Festival in Staffordshire late on Sunday.
Doherty, 28, was arrested with two others, a man and a woman, after being stopped in a car in Tower Hamlets in east London, police told Reuters. All three suspects were taken to an east London police station where they remain in custody. Doherty was warned by a magistrate earlier this month that he faced a prison sentence if he failed to demonstrate he was trying to kick his drugs habit. The singer pleaded guilty in July to possessing crack cocaine, heroin, cannabis and ketamine.
