DaRk LoVE
(D.Powell, J.Dean, J.Verdecias)

JEREMIAH: Love...

BROTHER: Isolated, Frustrated...
Feeling dark thoughts again...
Complicated, ...Situated
between Faith and giving in.
I haven't felt like this since
I don't remember when,

But, I need to see, what you see in me,
and I need this pain to end...

JEREMIAH: What is this Love / That everyday we pray for it's embrace / And why do we settle? / For the lower level / Transplanting lust in it's place / If you ask and don't receive / Instantly do you grieve? / Squandering Love's seed / Allowing fear to erase your faith? /

'Cause True Love is the fabric / The lullaby for the savage / The antidote for the damage that life tends to manage / In our hearts and our souls / We crave control / Yet Love rips it from our hands - turning a grown woman or man into a child stuck in quicksand...

BROTHER: Cause, sometimes I love you, ...and,
Sometimes, I shun you, and...
Sometimes you make me feel so mad.

At times I think you love me, and...
Most times you really hurt me, and...
Sometimes you make me feel so sad.

'Cause sometimes I care about us, and...
Sometimes, I'm sick to death of us!
And, sometimes, I just wanna die,
but, please don't let me die.

JEREMIAH ALEXIS: But you've got to tap your eternal source / Warmth like an eternal sun in your chest / Warmth like under the covers when you share them with your lover / Warmth like cold feet when you slip them in new socks / Warmth cause you know your Love's got that key to your hearts lock / The omnipotent power / True Love the pathway to all / So pure and filled with Light that no dark can block it's call /

'Cause there is no hate / Only Love twisted and scarred / Love so battered and bruised that the heart becomes confused / That's why we got to Love hard / So intense it becomes a part of your scent / Your shadow your hand print / Your very essence / So those unloved souls can bathe in Your Presence / And allow Love's warmth to melt their hearts dark frost...
Their Dark Love...

BROTHER: I, I often wonder,
In my soul I sometimes ponder,
How this dark love, entered my heart?
And tho' I still recall,
the vows I made before it all,
In this dark, I fall apart,
Mend my wounded heart...
My Dark Love..

Voyage to India
""
"I think after 9/11, the kind of album I made became very relevant. Even before that, it's clear that a new millennium means changes are going on--in our hearts, in our heads. I was hoping my music would be recognized as a part of that." --India.Aire

I can remember the very day I sat down to listen to this CD. It had been quite a stressful week from my regular job at that time as a phone counselor for a domestic violence hotline. As I listened to the intro where India sets up her intention.., I knew that soon all my troubles would be over. What an hour I spent!! This CD has the ability to teach and heal in it's purest form. There's a spirit that permeates each song that lyrically speaks to a variety of issues and ills. And, when India sings about love, as in GOOD MAN, she touches the core of the soul with her honesty and insightfulness. Voyage to India is a gift to your heart, mind and soul. --BD of www.EdenDustMedia.com

Freddie Bryant Jazz
""
Can someone be too talented? Is it possible to be so skillful that your talent intimidates, rather than inspires?? Freddie Bryant is a truly gifted and anointed musician, a skilled master of guitar. Classically trained, he's adept at many styles of play, but his forte seems to be in jazz. Whether on acoustic or electric guitar, the distinct style that's Freddie Bryant is his ability to play a flourish of notes, in perfect time, while never loosing sight of the melody or his place in the melody. He plays mainly around the New York area, tho' his home is actually in Oklahoma. By all means, get his CD's, but to really appreciate Mr. Bryant, you've got to see him play 'live'. You shouldn't have too hard a time getting to see him, eventually. He's a busy man, in much demand. ~~BD of www.EdenDustMedia.com

This tune, Jungle Trail, is the highlight for me from this insightful release. It's a musician's song, full of strings and intricate melodies.., his voice is achingly beautiful, with just enough pathos to sell his incredible lyric writing, all the more. Do you yourself a treat and really take a moment to listen to a complete artist at the top of his game. ~~BD of www.EdenDustMedia.com

Amos Lee Rock/Pop
""
Amos Lee is a star in the making..., and, an unusual one, to boot. He's going to be compared to Norah Jones and rightfully so, as he has that same tenderness of style in his lyric delivery and writing. But, unlike Norah, there's a little grit in Amos and he's going to be a hard artist to categorize. Opening for Bob Dylan and Merle Haggard, he's obviously got a following that's certainly not the predictable demographic, but, beyond all the obvious misconceptions, the one that matters most, is the music. "Keep it Loose, Keep it Tight" reminds us to never forget that we have the power to make things right in this world we're living in, with a most ingenious hook. Jump from that to the end tune, "All My Friends" is a haunting song about grief, lost, fear.., and Hope. He sings it as a man who can be depended on to stand by his friends through thick and thin. All his arrangements are sparse and leave room for the band to shine. Amos is a man who is equally in love with the music, the lyric and the voice. This is an artist that's really paid his dues.., and it's time for his due.~~BD of www.EdenDustMedia.com

Patience George Michael
""
No one is more surprised than me that this most recent release from George Michael (of WHAM fame) would make my list of must-listens. In recent years, although occasionally writing an emotive ballad or two (Careless Whisper), most of George's audience has been the club scene. There's a few of those dance tunes here, as well, but what stands out mostly in PATIENCE is the truthfulness in which George writes. I'm sure his openess is in large part to his being so exposed for his personal choices and the public commentary about those issues that should have remained private. But upon closer listen, you discover that he's got much more to sing about in his life than his love life.

Close attention should be given to My Mother Had A Brother, where he speaks of the family curse(s) that may help to understand George's relunctance to perhaps share his life's intimate details. The title cut and American Angel are other poignant examples of this revelatory lyric style. Please Send Me Someone (Anselmo's Song) and Amazing seem innocently joyful because of their infectious rhythms, but with a closer listen, you'll discover there's an element of melancholy even in these tunes. My favorites are John and Elvis Are Dead, Cars and Trains and Round Here, each excellent examples of the power of word and music, when combined for their maximum effect. PATIENCE celebrates a man who has not only found his voice late in life, but seems fine with all the detours and delays along the way. ~~BD of www.EdenDustMedia.com
