#60-41
60. Sonic Adventure 2
I can hear your growns, quiet. SA2 createda newsuper fast, high score based gameplay system that all Sonic games have copied since. Gone were most of the adventure elements of SA1 replaced with straight action levels. Sure some of the side character levelswere a bit crappy but the Sonic/Shadow stuff was brilliant. It is a massive game, I easily put 70+ hours into it to ace all levels. Plus it has one of the best unlockables in video game history. To this day it is still the best 3D Sonic, maybe that isn't saying much but whatever.
59. Dragon Quest VIII
I shouldn't like really old school JRPGs. The annoying random battles, the simplistic battle systems but for some reason it all worked for DQ8. It is such a charming beautiful game to play, with a decent story but one hell of a world to explore. Combat was simple yet addicting. It really is one of the better RPGs I have played.
58. Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia
The latest in the Metroidvania series, this game tries something new by giving you many locations outside of the Castle to explore. What you get is a journey that sort of feels like Simon's Quest only a million times better. The battle system is unique, it isnt the standard equip a weapon in each hand type thing. The boss fights were top notch, the quest was a perfect length. One of the finest CV games.
57. Virtua Fighter 5
The successor to what I consider to be the best fighter ever (hint for future pick), this sequel kind of played it safe. It offered the same stellar fighting system which is unmatched and all the same the battle modes including the incredible quest mode. It did not do much new but it's still about as good as fighting games get.
56. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
My first CoD experience, it was thrilled by the whole non-stop rollercoaster stylle action of it all. Yeah the core gameplay is about as basic a FPS gets, which generally I don't like but CoD4 actually had variety, well designed set pieces, it constantly threw something new at you. The campaign was short but memorable, the real meat was the multiplayer which was simply revolutionary. Practically all online games since have borrowed elements of the CoD4 online modes.
55. Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow
The closest CV has come to recreating the magic of SOTN. DoS builds on AoS by offering a larger quest, with better graphics and new DS mechanics. It has the same addicting soul system as Aria with a better overall game.
54. Halo 2
One of the most hyped games I have ever witnessed, it sort of lived up to it and it sort of did not. I personally don't think the campaign was as good as the first, it became far too linear. The online though was groundbreaking, offers tons and tons of play modes and a great matchmaking system that nearly all console games copy now.
53. Metroid Prime 2
This is one of those weird sequels that tries to be darker than the original but just ends up being weirder and not as good. This game introduces a light and dark aspect which was more annoying that fun. Still the Metroid template was there and it works providing another excellent adventure. There were some standout locations and some of the best boss fights in the entire series.
52. Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door
The best in the Paper Mario series in my opinion. This title is so charming, funny, memorable, I have a smile on my face just thinking about it. I remember the awesome side scrolling Bowser levels. The battle system was so well done, it kept you active even though its turned based. All around great game.
51. Half-Life 2:Episode 2
For an episodic gameentryto make it to this list it needs to be incredible, and that is what Episode 2 was. Episode 1 was a flat out let down, thankfully Episode 2 is like HL2 on steroids. Its short, about 4-5 hours but its some of the best 4-5 hours of FPS gameplay I have ever experienced. It didn't reuse any of the setpieces from HL2, it felt totally original something many expansions don't capture. This game actually makes me hate episodic content even more cause I can only image how much better this game would be if it were treated as HL3, this feels like one course in a three course meal.
50. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
The campaign of MW1 was exciting, this is like a Michael Bay movie on speed. It still has the same issues that all CoD games have but IW knows how to make exciting gameplay. That is what you get for all 5 hours the campaign lasts, I was floored at the stuff I was watching. The Spec Ops mode clearly puts this game over MW1, when you break down the gameplay into mission based objectives it's actually not bad at all, maybe the campaign should incorporate some of these missions. The online multiplayer is still as good as it gets. A lot of flash but a lot of substance too.
49. Halo
This game was unlike any FPS I had played. It had full use of vehicles like cars, tanks, spaceships. Epic huge battlefields, where I felt like a space Rambo in the middle of a star war. It set the standard for console FPSs using the two weapons at a time system and regenerating health. The campaign was great but the multiplayer was even better. This was before online so it was all LAN parties and my god what a time those were. My buddies and I would set up epic matches, one team in one room, the other team in the other, such a blast.
48. Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsenal
This title keeps the same awesome Ratchet gameplaybut leans more toward the action side of things. It didn't feel as balanced an action platformer as the second title but it still offers a great single player campaign, featuring the best villain in the series. It also has online multuplayer which wasn't bad.
47. ESPN NFL 2k5
I love football games and they never got better than this one. It has the same great 2k gameplay and added full integration with ESPN providing a gaming experience that felt like a TV broadcast. No Madden game has replicated the presentation of 2k5, it had Chris Berman doing highlights, it had sportscenter, it had the EPSN NFL draft, it felt like I was participating in a real NFL season. It had an incredible franchise mode, the first football game to have online leagues (something Madden just added this year). It is a game Madden is still trying to catch up too.
46. Ratchet and Clank: Going Commando
The perfect sequel, you know those sequels where they take everything the first did and flat out make it better. That is GC, it took everything I loved about the original and made it better. It added new gameplay elements like Clank missions. Overall it is the best Ratchet experience.
45. Resident Evil
In many ways this is the perfect RE game. It takes the best of years of RE games andapplied it to the most icionic location of the series. The only real problem is that by the time this game came out I felt the formula was dying. This was it's last hoorah before RE0 threw up all over itself.
44. The Longest Journey

I genrally don't care for adventure games but man did this one grab me, it did not let me go for the full epic quest. This is a testament to storytelling in gaming, it can be done well, with great writing, great voice acting and it can be the focus of a game. Of course the puzzles and the journey was excellent as well. Overall it gave me that feeling that I was on a quest with characters I grew to love, almost like a LOTR movie or something.
43. Dead Space
This is the game many were hoping RE4 to be. This keeps the horror atmosphere and tension while delivering RE4 ****action. The action isnt as well done as RE4, obviously it is going to be slower paced but it is still a very well crafted action adventure game. In terms of actual horror this is as good as it got this decade.
42. Batman: Arkham Asylum
Best superhero game ever. Finally a game that completely embraces the license but never betrays it. The gameplay is completely designed around Batman, its not Batman fitting into some game template. The mix of stealth and hand to hand combat is pulled off superbly. Best of all it has a long quest that has Metroid like elements to it. If that wasn't enough it includes one of the best side modes ever with its mission modes.
41. Metal Gear Solid: Ghost Babel
A Game Boy Color game on this list, yep. If you have played it you know why. MGS on the GB has everything we love about Metal Gear in tiny handheld ancient graphics form. It has fantastic bosses, the same excellent stealth action gameplay of MGS, and the crazy story with all the twists and turns. You can say that this title offers far more gameplay than MGS1 cause it does. It doesn't stop at the story mode, it has an extensive mission based mode where you need to complete certain objectives in the games many levels, usually under a certain amount of time or being unseen. It also has a full VR mode. This game is packed. It is one of the best handheld games ever made and a worthy entry into the MG franchise.
The trailer, as I'm sure you've seen, features the Apprentice walking down a corridor with Vader and Yoda trying to convince him to turn to the dark or light side - and of course there's Juno in there too. It sounds as though it's going to be a similar storyline in the sense of him choosing between the light and dark side, and I think that should mean it should be just as good as the first one, and is also a good thing because it very much follows the OT formula of good vs evil and it's battle within a person.
However I do hope they fix the gameplay issues that occurred in the first game, which although wasn't game-breaking or noticeable most of the time, were sometimes annoying. If they do both these things, I can see this new one being even better than the last and sell even better, too.
I must admit I was hoping Battlefront III was announced, but this is just as good, if not better.

I bought all the games I wanted this year so my Best of 2009 blogs will be in the very beginning of January. I'm looking at January 4th to start it. It will be a series of blogs much like my Top 10 countdown with like 2 or 3 categories.
My categories are (sorry for them being somewhat out of order:
- Best Overall Game of the Year
- Best Multiplatform Game of the Year
- Best Console Game
- Best Handheld Game
- Graphics
- Soundtrack
- Role Playing
- First Person Shooter
- Third Person Shooter
- Action
- Action/Adventure
- Racing
- Fighter
- Platformer
- Puzzle
- Remake
- Voice Acting
- Multiplayer
- Best New Original Game
- Downloadable Game
- Sleeper Hit
- Worst Game of the Year
- Most Disappointing
- Biggest Surprise
- Most Promising New Franchise
- Best Cast
- Best New Sidekick
- Best Supporting Character
- Best Hero
- Best Villian
- Best New Character
- Best Developer
That's all of the categories I have filled out so far, might add a few more interesting ones, but other than that, there's the list. And the top 3 runner-ups at most will be listed for each category as well.
When applicable, most categories are going to have a console game winner and a handheld game winner. Yes, I'm segregating console games and portable games. I don't think it's fair to match them up since consoles clearly have an unfair advantage against portable games.
Also I want to point out that the games nominated (for best and worst) are 2009 released only (obviously) and only games that I have personally bought.
All winners are MY opinion and my opinion alone and are not affected by the public opinion, I also ask that you respect my choices as well, so no "I think X game should have won that" and such.
I will not list the nominees since some are running unopposed so they would be dead giveaways.
Again, the current date for my Best of 2009 is currently slated for January 4, 2010.
Feel free to ask any questions, or even new categories if you want, if they're interesting enough, I'll put them in.
Hell yeah! I got an A- which is great, I was so close to getting a high B but the Professor cut me some slack. My only grade that came nowhere near an A was a B- I had on one of my early test. I got a perfect 100 on the Daytona Beach International Airport Diagram test and two 90's as well as one 100 on the three quizzes. All in all my second lowest grade in the class was an 88 on the midterm Tower Evaluation. Our group was the last group to take the Final Evaluation. When I started the final evaluation I started on the Ground Controller Position then after fifteen minutes I moved to the Local Controller position where I had to take off some of the aircraft I had just issued taxi instructions in my prior position a few minutes earlier. After that position I moved to Pseudo Pilot Ground then one position left to Pseudo Pilot Local. Both of those positions involve me acting as pilot and as a pseudo pilot I get the instructions from the ATC then type them into the PC to get the aircraft to do what I was instructed.
An example for pseudo ground would be when American 555 Heavy was coming of runway 25R for parking at the gates. I would say as pseudo ground, "Daytona Ground, American Five Fifty-Five Heavy is coming of runway two-five right at November 4(Taxiway Intersection N4) requesting taxi to the gate." Then the Ground Controller would issue me taxi instructions, "American Five Fifty-Five Heavy Daytona Ground, taxi to the gates via taxiway november charlie." I would reply, "Taxi to gate four via November Charlie for American Five Fifty-Five Heavy." I would use the computer and my mouse to click on the aircraft, then gate then N then C then hit enter to get the plane moving. The pseudo local clears planes to take off and land. Both pseudo positions rely on macros for taxi instructions.
As the local controller I had to take off planes, clear others to land, and ensure separation minimas for all aircraft landing and departing. You don't want to be in a Cessna 172 being taxied into position and hold between a boeing 747 believe me!

Owned!
As Ground Controller I had to give taxi instructions to aircraft on how to get to and from the runway. Its fun stuff but strip marking is not. Strip marking involves me writing down critical information such as where the plane is parked and the departure time of heavy aircraft. If I told a plane to taxi to a runway I had to write the intersection down under the assigned runway where the plane would be taxing to.
Last but not least was my short time on Clearance Delivery where I had to tell calling aircraft that they were cleared to an airport using a standard instrument departure then as filed then give them the squawk code. Then when they read back the info I ask verify you have ATIS(Automated Terminal Information Service) information November and verify parking. They would reply I have information november which I would conferm by putting a check mark in the appropriate box on there flight progress strip. They would then say something like I am parked at Sheltair where I would then write SH in the flight strip box designated for parking.
"A/C ID Readback correct, contact ground on point niner when ready to taxi, good day."
It was with great sadness that I found out this afternoon about 4 fellow officers in Washington state that were ambushed at a coffee shop just off-post from McChord Air Force Base. What is it with people today? It is reprehensible that these people think they can murder 4 people who were tasked with safe-guarding the public. The only reason people hate police is because they are law breakers themselves. They take what doesn't belong to them, they go where they are not supposed to go, they hurt the innocent, and turn around and get angry when they get caught by those whose job it is to stop them. We are hated until we are needed. We are the ones who have to say no and mean it. We are the defenders of the defenceless. We are held to a higher standard and we accept it with dignity, professionalism, integrity, respect, and accountability. No one watches out for us except us. We are criticized and condemned by the media for responding to a dynamic flow of events. We have 1 split second to determine what to do.The right choice may land us at the mercy of the media, while the wrong choice may put us in the grave. Some will say that we are rude or impolite. Some of us may be, but I ask you this..... Do you know what that officer's last call for service was? Do you know that he or she just finished telling a parent that their child was killed by a drunk driver? Do you know that the call before was the rape of an 11 year old girl? Before you pass judgement on us, take into consideration that we see the worst part of humanity on a daily basis and still hold fast to what we consider right; YOUR SAFETY, YOUR SECURITY, AND YOUR RIGHT TO LIFE.
Who here has joined that website? And who would like to?

Do not send me any union invitations, I am not interested in joining anyones unions; big, small, active, unactive. They all will be deleted, and by not sending me one it will save me some time of deleting it. The gamespot unions are dead and I'm trying to keep my sole union alive in the void of dead unions. Thx.

This blog post is a little late, but at the end of last month, I sent my PS3 in to the shop and they didn't even bother fixing it and just gave me a new PS3 for free. The problem is that I wasn't able to get three of my game saves transferred, due to the copy protection. Now I just need to be more careful with my new PS3.
I'm also going to write a review on a few games for the first time in almost a year. I'll be starting with Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe. After that, I'll review Grand Theft Auto IV. Then another PS3 game, which I am undecided on right now.
laggy gamespot servers.
if they delete some inactive accounts, then it'll speed up.
or maybe it's just traffic, alot of people love gamespot..
When was the last time I blogged, March? Wow, I've neglected this thing for a while now, and I probably will continue to after I write this. I really don't care though, nor do I care if anyone reads this. So yeah anyways...
I've decided that unless you have a job, girlfriend, or something extremely interesting going on in your life, the months of june, july, and august are really boring. Considering I have none of the above my life is a living borefest (which explains why I'm blogging right now). The most interesting thing I did all summer was take a road trip to Chicago (which was awesome I might add). The problem is, that roadtrip was in early June and I didn't do anything realitively close to as exciting as that other than go to Warped Tour (which was also awesome). So basically, my summer peaked way too early and every other activity I partook in just didn't compare.

Getting beat on Fight Night made me want to bite someone's ear off.
So what did I do all summer? The last thing any college should be doing; spending money. Most of that went to my Xbox 360 however, as I hoped a new game or two would releave me of my boredom. Well that sort of worked. Fight Night Round 4 came first, and while that game is very fun, getting destroyed by 12 year olds who had mastered the art of exploiting (or were just really, really good) made me shelve the game for weeks at a time.

I put this guy on the Bobcats, and they won the NBA Title. Maybe the actual Bobcats should do the same.
Next I tried NBA 2k9. I've come to the conclusion that this game is an addiction, because I bought it back in March or April and played the hell out of it to the point where there was no point in playing it again. Problem is, I kept coming back to the game, playing it for a extended period of time, then realizing I have zero desire to go through a franchise mode with the Minnesota Timberwolves. Whats worse is I've repeated this process at least a dozen times.

This game saved me from cured me of my chronic boredom.
So what game came to my rescue? Tales. Of. Vesperia. I totally missed out on this game, and am now currently playing it and loving it. I needed something different, and Tales is certainly that. I have all intentions to finish the game, and hopefully by that time something else has come out that can relieve me of my boredom, except by that time I imagine, school, basketball, and parties will be keeping me from being bored.
I more or less have 2009 planned out, but it would be nice to budget for 2010 since 90% of all games have been pushed back.
This is for me to help money management.

Well i missed most of Comic Con this year, disappointed to say the least, last year G4 had it on for a few days worth of coverage, and this year I have seen to have missed most of it. Did get to catch a little bit of the Star Wars panel that they had on. It was ok front what i've seen, Season 2 of the Clone Wars is looking really good, it looks like its going to be more adulty this year. Personally looking forward to seeing the Mandos in action.
Haven't really seen to many trailers of the movies to come but i did get the chance to see the new anime flick for Green Lantern- First Flight. Personally like it, although I like the Lantern Corp., I gotta wonder why movie developers don't dewell in the comic books for stories. Like Marvel Alliance 2. I have read a comic book in a long time, but it seems like theres a lot of really great stories out there for all the hero's. Im really interested to see what the new Batman/Superman anime movie is going to be like. It seems like I get my comic fix from all the movies that are being released on DVD. Im really glad that DC/Marvel release the movies. They show off there hero's powers, most movies give you a decent story with really good action. I wish the big budget movies would follow suit ----- looking at you Superman.
