Potential major damage to my new 1080p TV? Thank the idiotic cable technicians..

Seeing how many people don't have the concentration capabilities to read several paragrapths, I'll ask the question first...

Would an absolutely careless 7 foot idiot buckling your TV several times by leaning on it cause any permanent damage? Why am i asking this? Read on to find out.....

I recently managed to get Sky after putting up with a terrible terrestrial anologue signal for quite some time. Yesterday two 'technitians' sent by Sky turned up to hook me up.

This would all be well except for one thing. They were both complete idiots, and one of them wasn't even legally eligible to work. After hooking the sattelite dish up (in the wrong place, facing straight into the roof of my house), one of the technicians began work on my TV. This featured violently tugging my TV unit from it's usual residence with a new £1000 TV on it. This guy actually had one of his feet in a brace and plaster. Tell me if I'm wonrg, but shouldn't someone who's job requires them to be fit to climb onto rooftops and ladders be let off from work if he had a broken foot?

After drilling a hole in my living room skirting board for the cable, he proceeded to installing the Sky box. As my TV has a swiveling pivot on it (for ajusting the screen angle), and the guy was a complete idiot , he decided to stick his hand straight into the LCD screen to hold the TV in place so he couldhook the SCART cable up whilst applying a large amount of force on each side. When it came to standing up,he put ALL of his weight on the corner of the TV, bucking it to roughly a 150 degree angle. He did this around 5 times, causing the TV to buckle straight down and make a very unhealthy noise every time. After handling my TV with the tender and delicate care of a bear wearing boxing gloves, they proceeded to active the box -which I don't see why you need a 'qualified' technitian to do so, seeing how technical support told me how to do so (Due to the bloody thing not even working). Durin the waiting period, they had no problem making themselves at home, putting their shoes up on the furniture, and even having a go on the Wii before they noticed I was standing right next to them and attempted turning it off before actiing as if nothing ever happened.

After these complete morons left my house, I found some dead pixels where they put their grubby mits on my screen, and smudges on the LCD. What's worse is that the Sky Box doesn't even work. I mearly have to touch the Sky box with barely a feathery appliance of force and BAM, there goes my signal. I am now currently recieving no Sky television at this point. I've made a formal complaint to Sky and now have to wait for someone who's actually not an idiot (hopefully) to come by and fix it for me.

So, what do you think? Is there any posibilty of damage possible by abusing a TV in such a way?

New Computer Hell

Seeing how my computer is pretty dated, I ordered a new computer around a month ago. And what a month it's been. To begin with, the package was delayed by about two weeks as the graphics card was being upgraded, followed by the delivery being a week late despite me paying extra for it, followed by a dead DVD Drive, and an eventual implossion of the whole thing. It was simply stuck on the boot screen. There were also some other annoying issues. The LAN card didn't work, there was a continental plug on the monitor, no disk for the antivirus, and some really bad customer support. I've found myself several times being juggled back and forth between different people for about 40 minutes, before not having my problem solved what so ever. Now, after I;'ve sent the computer back, it's been delayed for yet ANOTHER week, as the problem has to be discussed with Miscrosoft. The tower is obviously f*cked, why can't you just send me a new one, and THEN talk to Microsoft? After you spend £1500 ($3000) on a computer, you expect the f*cking thing to work. Aparently, you can't these days. Anyhoo, here are some specs of it.

-2.4ghz E6600 Dual Core CPU (I'm going to ask, no, DEMAND, an upgrade on this, seeing how I've had both **** service, and that the package has now been upgraded with a quadcore for the same price)

-2gb DDR2 RAM

-500gb HDD

-768mb GeForce 8800gtx

-22'' 1680 x 1050 Monitor

-Creative 5.1 Surround sound

Hopefully, I should have some good times with it, although it's likely will probably be delayed by a few weeks or so because they need to discuss that with MS.

Brian Hastings and Zephyr

Here we go again, .......

We seem to be hearing this a lot from Sony-based developers. It really is quite anoying how we're being told about how "Wii aDN teh 360 sux! rAElly!" every 10 seconds from people who know that their comments will be invalid. I mean, how are you meant to think you'll turn anybody to the "light" when you make a clichéd and invalid point for the benefit of the company who owns you? Sony are most definately the Sega of this gen, judging by their current performance.

Despite this, I'd have to agree that the Wii is in danger of being a fad. I've only bought one extra game since it's lanuch (Warioware) and I might pick up Excite Truck some time, but apart from that there really aren't any engaging experiences like Twilight Princess any time in the near future. And with games like Mass Effect, Halo 3, Lair, Hevaeny Sword and Too Human around the corner, I doubt I'll be going anywhere near my Wii.

Talking of "turning to the light", I thought I'd take advantage of the stupidly low demand for the PS3 in Europe and see if any good deals come up. Unlike the other 2 consoles, they're actually selling for LESS with games and controllers bundled on eBay than they are in the shops. Looks like it's time for the PS3 to get it's epitath ready.....

As for the Zephyr, I have mixed feelings. It's certainly great to see something with full 1080p through HDMI with twice the HDD space than the 360 and still see it less than the PS3, and seeing a miration cable bundled with HDDs is also great, it's just the case of if i NEED it. Sure, most of my HDD is used up, but it's been like that for ages now. If a new demo or movie turns up, I only have to delete the other demos and videos I don't use anymore. Stand-alone HDDs also quite pricey, although it's hardly being forced on me. Although it's far from the usual fanboy illusion of "TIHS WEL KILL TEH M$$$$$$$$$$", it does really screw over hardcore gamers like myself who bought the 360 at launch. Ah well, I like the white instead of the black

Yes, Blogidy Blog Blog

Not much to talk about so far. In the near future I'll obviously be putting some Wii and 360 reviews up, and informing the lost souls who have somehow unwillingly drifted to my blog page of amazing doings and stuff. Anyhoo, keep watching this space. Keep watching I tells ya
