I might as well do it since I have the time now and there's no alcohol in my system yet. I don't like saying Merry Christmas, Happy Hanuka or any of the 'Christmas' greetings so I'll just leave 2 pics. Enjoy the holidays people.

I read a Kotaku article that was an interview with EA's CEO John Riccitiello where he discussed the possibility of making money off pirates by selling them DLC. This sparked up some of my recent thoughts on how I feel about DLC and I wrote up a lengthy comment about it. Maybe it wasn't entirely on-topic, but I submitted it anyways. I figured I'd copy/paste it here too:
I don't pirate games, but the existence of Day 1 PAID DLC sure as hell makes me want to.
I can understand "expansion" content. I can understand day one patches and updates. I can also understand entire games being digitally distributed. What I refuse to support is having to pay for content that SHOULD of and COULD have been on the disk.
Isn't it somewhat implied that when you go to a store and buy a game that you are getting the entire game, not just a piece of it where you end up having to buy the rest piecemeal?
Don't advertise a game to me that shows all this great stuff that I want to play to then turn around and hold it back until I give up more money AFTER I already tossed down money at retail. (I admit this doesn't really happen but my paranoia and untrust for big companies makes me angry that it might).
The idea of having packed in free DLC codes even ticks me off. We are really close to the point where entire boss fights will be left out as day 1 DLC.
If there is one thing I hate more than anything in the corporate world it's micro-transactions. Years ago it was called "Nickel and diming", but that didn't sound very nice so they sent marketing teams at it.
Anywho... rant over.
The MGSR forums are buzzing eversince the bomb that was dropped upon E3. For the longest time people like myself have hoped that MGS4 would make its way to the xbox 360, the announcement of mgsr was quite a surprise and a major highlight at E3. Since then talks of fanboyism and pure fanboyism have been among the chatter. May complain that the game is an exclusive and that MS fanboys would be claiming the same thing if that happened to any franchise exclusive to the xbox 360. Truth be told that the metal gear franchise started on the NES and the that MGS2 appeared on other consels. With that being said were are the Nintendi fanboys in the argument? Why didn't the sony Fanboys Complain about Snake being in SSBB? why is this even a big deal? MGSR isn't even an exclusive. I'll let you sleep on it.
also just as an example of how bad things are getting here is a link to Kojima's blog. http://www.kjp.konami.jp/gs/hideoblog_e/2009/06/000177.html
