Quite Simply, this band is like an expensive wine - you don't get to taste much of it - but it always tastes fantastic, and gets better with age!
They really have outdone themselves with this album - the sound is more refined, and more catchy than their previous work - I believe these lads have taken the right direction in terms of their sound. I especially like 'Walk Idiot Walk' and 'Love in Plaster' - Great words, catchy tunes - great songs to just Crank it Up to!
So in Summary, a great job from The Hives, and definitely a record to get if you like fast-paced Rock music.

I have to admit, I'm a bit of a sucker when it comes to homegrown music. I tend to buy on impulse, and sometimes it shows :-(
At first, I thought that of the Datsuns - sure, they had a couple of great songs (MF from Hell, and Harmonic Generator), but the rest of the album seemed a bit same-y. So there it sat in my collection, gathering a bit of dust for 6 months, until I pulled it out for a listen 'just for the hell of it'.
And lo and behold, it wasn't that bad this time. So I kept listening to it, and it really did grow on me. The high-energy riffs and screaming vocals really are catchy after a while, and even though some of the tracks are a bit rough, we can expect that on a debut album. The Datsuns certainly have a lot of potential, and with John Paul Jones as their producer, it could be the start of great things to come. My advice - check it out, have a good listen - it may grow on you too.

After some of the band leaving, and after the HUGE success of the first three albums, I was expecting a fantastic effort for SOTSOG. Noel Gallagher had admitted earlier that he wanted to take oasis in a new direction musically, however there seems to be no sign of that here on this album. Instead of high-energy, guitar-heavy rock riffs, all we get is a weird meld of psychedelic pop and ballads. Frankly this isn't my cup of tea at all, and after listening to this album, I thought that they were finished. Thankfully this was proved wrong with their next release, but that's another story.
Overall then, a poor effort from a band who promised so much more. Avoid - unless you're morbidly curious or just HAVE to have all their Albums!

Quite simply, this album was THE album of the summer of '97 - what a great summer for music! This is by far the best effort by The Prodigy and one which quite simply, cannot be bettered. It successfully melds Rock, Electronica and Hip-Hop in an eclectic, and wide-ranging sound that is unique to this album. This is a must-have for any collection, and I believe that the tracks on this album will be around for more years to come.
