Weather, Anniversary, and V.

Hello to all my friends out there in TV.com land. AprilFox had some wonderful pictures on her last blog. My sister lives in Rochester, NY and it has been rainy and snowy already this fall season as well.

The last few days in the Sonoran Desert we have seen temperatures back up in the mid-90's Fahrenheit and they haven't got below 60 or so. Over the weekend highs will drop into the low 80's. Isn't it November?

SpongeBob Orangepants has his fur coat back for the winter and is looking more like himself. I think he may be thinking he grew it back too soon though!

Today is my 26th Wedding Anniversary and my wife and I are going to The Legends at Fransisco Grande Resort for dinner. Last year our daughter threw us a big 25th Anniversary party which was very nice, but it will be good to just spend a quiet evening together this year.

I'm not sure I mentioned this in the past but we live about three miles from Red River Ranch which was John Wayne's cattle ranch. He and Lewis Johnston owned it together for many years and then it was run by one of his sons. It is a huge dairy and feed ranch with thousand of cattle. Just the kind of place you would think John Wayne would own and live at.

The Legends sort of took their name from many of the stars like Wayne who lived and vacationed here. Fransisco Grande is also famous for being the Spring Training Resort location for the San Fransisco Giants for years in the past and now is the home of a new training facility for a new minor league American football league that trains here three months out of the year.

On the TV front, CBS' Accidentally on Purpose received a partial pickup for five episodes bringing the number to 18 for the season. It does look like Mercy will be the last new medical show standing with the back nine ordered for 22 episodes. Both Trauma and Three Rivers will probably show their remaining episodes and then be canceled.

Finally V debuted to a huge audience eclipsing NCIS for the time slot at least in the 18-49 viewer range. NCIS did have more overall viiewers though. It looks like V is going to be a big hit, but we will have to wait and see how it fares next week to see how big. It also did extremely well in Canada with a huge premiere there as well. Then there is the whole hiatis till Spring after showing the first four episodes this month. I don't think people will have trouble waiting though.

Personally, I enjoyed the show. I thought the special effects were very good, the acting and actors enjoyable for the most part, and the script looks pretty solid. If I was disappointed about anything it was all the borrowing from other TV shows, movies, etc. since the first series aired in the early 80's. Especially the Independence Day opening.

I hope everyone has a good week! Take care and thanks for reading...

Jeffery

Happy anniversary!! I need to go watch "V" that I DVR'd. I think you're right about Three Rivers - it's not bad but there's just something missing. Love the cat on a roof pic It's 87deg here in central FL - waiting for the fall weather they keep promising. Usually have to head back to TX to get some cold weather for the holidays.

Hey! I really wanna go to NY while snowing for some reason, it sounds magical . It's crazy how hot it is over there! Amazingly crazy lol! Happy Anniversary! Thats a huge time and something to be proud of and to share it with her with a nice meal I really hope to get into V, it looks nice, original and interesting! Thanks for the headsup! Have a good week!

Happy Anniversary. Since I'm really not into medical dramas, I'm not too upset over Three Rivers getting the ax since Flashpoint will probably takes it's place. I thought V started out well. Maybe a bit too much for an hour but the last 15 minutes really had me. Agree on the Independence Day thing.

Your cat looks so cute with so much fur. It seems like it's so hot where you live. It's getting colder here. Happy 26th Anniversary!!!

Wow! 26 years together! Major congrats to you and your lady, J! So is "V" ever going to be a real "series", or is it only a special event kind of deal? Four lousey episodes? The numbers will have to be sky high for ABC to bring it back with a big enough budget - after the damn Olympics! I could really do without the spoiled whiney kid bit - but it looks like he'll soon become something like Jack's daughter was for the first 2-3 seasons of "24". Ouch! Hope you enjoyed ... dinner!

Congrats to you and your wife! 26 years, amazing! CBS may have something scheduled to replace AoP after the 18th episode? Sorry to see Trauma go after the 13th. I was liking it more than Mercy. I really liked V's pilot, except for the fact they revealed so much so fast in an hour. Enjoy the coming weekend, Jeffrey!

Thanks Miss K!

Hi TesserT, I love your dog picture! V was interesting, I was a little disappointed, but hopefully it'll get better. The weather here has got down to 37 Fahrenheit a few nights a week ago, but that's about as cold as it gets. It's been back up in the 90's which is ridiculous this time of year. I've been to almost as many states as you, but not as many continents. I actually like both Florida and Texas. Been to most of the cities in both states. Thanks for the post. Jeffery

Hey Shane, I've been to New York when it's snowing. You don't want to be there! Thanks for the wishes. Enjoy V, I am hoping it gets better myself. Thanks, Jeffery

Hi Emiko, Thanks! I'm not either, but I was trying to find something new to watch so I tried all three. I actually have enjoyed Three Rivers, Trauma, and Mercy, but I have to admit Mercy is the best of the bunch by far. Yes, now that you mention it that might be one of the things that bothered me as well. It seemed we got half of the mini-series plot in 42 minutes! Interesting. Jeffery

Thanks Jon, Yes, I lived a little South of where you are and it is getting cold up there! Actually SpongeBob is a stray and we have to keep from taming him as he lives outdoors. Usually cats are dead in a few weeks here if exposed to what is out here. SpongeBob came along four years ago and we have fed him twice a day for four years and never tried to catch him. He rubs against us, but won't really let us pet him. His survival instincts and feral nature are what keep him alive. We'd tame him and bring him inside if we could. Trust me. We've found homes and got shots for 50+ cats and a few dozen dogs over the last 15-20 years. We've had as many as fourteen cats and two dogs at once in our house. We're down to three cats for now. Hi Memphis, Yea... what is with the whiny kid in these type of shows. Is there really anyone that likes that character ever? My wife got in a car accident (she's fine) so we didn't go. Not her fault. Someone rear ended her. It happened about an hour before our dinner out. Bummer! Thanks for the wishes! Jeffery

Hi Chuck, You're the editor for some of my favorite shows! Thanks for the good wishes! As I said before, I don't really like medical shows, but I think Trauma and Three Rivers were good, but not as balanced week to week as Mercy. Of the three long term I could see Mercy maybe having a few year run. We'll see. The plan has been to run Rules of Engagement's fifth season (yea fifth!) sometime in the late winter/spring back on Monday's and in place of AOP. I personally hated Worst Week, but CBS got decent ratings from it, but it has sort of been like AOP's ratings and got canceled. Even though I like AOP, my clinical thought is I see it maybe lasting one season and then going away. We'll see. Thanks, Jeffery

Hey Jeff, I will return after college to comment.

Hey Jeffrey, it's Mack (mackymacaspac), so the shows I edit are just reacquired after I "closed" my primary account, with which I had problems that even staff can't resolve. Chuck's my secret agent account, so to speak. I'm going to blog about the change soon. I don't really see myself following these new medical shows. I won't mind that AoP doesn't get renewed either. I'm still hoping more sitcoms come on with the same quality as TBBT or HIMYM. Right now, I'm enjoying Community and Modern Family among the new comedies.

That's cool Sarah, I'm glad you have your priorities straight! Jeffery

Hey Mack, I got it. I'm sorry your other account was messed up. Thanks for clarifying that for me. I appreciate it. Also, I don't really watch medical shows myself. For example, I never watched ER or Grey's Anatomy. I just got sucked in with the new batch. Remember, I always admit that my thoughts are just my opinions and therefore may be just that. AOP may last for years. Thanks, Jeffery
