Weather, Anniversary, and V.
Hello to all my friends out there in TV.com land. AprilFox had some wonderful pictures on her last blog. My sister lives in Rochester, NY and it has been rainy and snowy already this fall season as well.
The last few days in the Sonoran Desert we have seen temperatures back up in the mid-90's Fahrenheit and they haven't got below 60 or so. Over the weekend highs will drop into the low 80's. Isn't it November?
SpongeBob Orangepants has his fur coat back for the winter and is looking more like himself. I think he may be thinking he grew it back too soon though!
Today is my 26th Wedding Anniversary and my wife and I are going to The Legends at Fransisco Grande Resort for dinner. Last year our daughter threw us a big 25th Anniversary party which was very nice, but it will be good to just spend a quiet evening together this year.
I'm not sure I mentioned this in the past but we live about three miles from Red River Ranch which was John Wayne's cattle ranch. He and Lewis Johnston owned it together for many years and then it was run by one of his sons. It is a huge dairy and feed ranch with thousand of cattle. Just the kind of place you would think John Wayne would own and live at.
The Legends sort of took their name from many of the stars like Wayne who lived and vacationed here. Fransisco Grande is also famous for being the Spring Training Resort location for the San Fransisco Giants for years in the past and now is the home of a new training facility for a new minor league American football league that trains here three months out of the year.
On the TV front, CBS' Accidentally on Purpose received a partial pickup for five episodes bringing the number to 18 for the season. It does look like Mercy will be the last new medical show standing with the back nine ordered for 22 episodes. Both Trauma and Three Rivers will probably show their remaining episodes and then be canceled.
Finally V debuted to a huge audience eclipsing NCIS for the time slot at least in the 18-49 viewer range. NCIS did have more overall viiewers though. It looks like V is going to be a big hit, but we will have to wait and see how it fares next week to see how big. It also did extremely well in Canada with a huge premiere there as well. Then there is the whole hiatis till Spring after showing the first four episodes this month. I don't think people will have trouble waiting though.
Personally, I enjoyed the show. I thought the special effects were very good, the acting and actors enjoyable for the most part, and the script looks pretty solid. If I was disappointed about anything it was all the borrowing from other TV shows, movies, etc. since the first series aired in the early 80's. Especially the Independence Day opening.
I hope everyone has a good week! Take care and thanks for reading...
Jeffery
