who is running this site these days ( mods im looking at you! )

seems that these days on gamespot theres no such thing as "free speech" or even talking about something just incase it might upset a small number of people oh no we cant have that can we?

this site needs to realise its world wide and not everything is a taboo subject or you cant mention something even if true just incase you might tick off some folk..

thats it enjoy the rest of your holidays everyone..

Even Newer Siggy

I'm still playing BlazBlue. My main character is still Nu according to my D-Card online, but I like Hakumen a lot more ever since I got good with him. He's my new favorite character in the series, and I use him more than any other character these days. Anyway, I made a new signature for myself here on Gamespot featuring Hakumen, and I think it looks even better than the Nu signature I made a couple blog posts back. It definitely looks unique and does his character justice, so I hope you guys like it!

(In other news, I just leveled up on the site for the first time in what seems like a year.)

Got a picture with Mark Hoppus! (Bassist from Blink 182)

I went to Darien Lake this weekend to go see Blink 182 in concert. While wondering in the park we saw Mark Hoppus, my friend asked if we could have a picture and he said yes! The rest is history:

New Klipsch Surround Sound System!!!

So I've been saving up for a long time for my dream system. Not as long as many, since I get accommodations and discounts from working at Best Buy (that I can't discuss in great detail), but I'm still shelling out around $2500 in the end.

So I've ordered my Klipsch speakers. I'm getting three XL-23 LCR and two XL-12 LCR speakers with a 12" Subwoofer. I'm hooking this up to my new Denon AVR-790 (which is the same as the "higher end" AVR-1910). I'll have my Xbox 360 and newly bought PS3 slim to hook up to it! All the highest end Monster cables.

A buddy from work is helping me mount everything and conceal all the wires behind the wall in exchange for some co-op gaming on my new system plus I'm buying him a game of his choice.

Klipsch XL-23 speakers ($500 retail each)

Klipsch XL-12 LCR Speakers ($299 Retail each)

Quick Guide on Basic PC Optimization

A lot of people hate their PCs. Blue screens, glitches, and performance that would make a crippled octogenarian seem fast by comparison might just make you want to switch to a Mac, or if you're savvy enough, use Linux. Fortunately, just as with cars and people, a bit of basic maintenance can help avoid this. Here are a few simple things you can do to keep your PC in tip top shape, whether it be for playing games or just browsing the web.

1) Reinstall Windows! This is something you should do from time to time, ideally once a year. Now would be a great time to try out Windows 7 RC.

2) Uninstall programs you don't use.

3) Use a disk defrag program such as Auslogics on a regular basis (at least once a week).

4) Keep your PC updated! Use Windows update and update your graphics card drivers every few months.

5) Run CCleaner.

6) Get rid of startup programs. CCleaner can help you do this.

7) Get rid of unnecessary background services. Hit CTRL+ALT+DEL, go to the "Services" tab and hit services at the bottom. Make sure you don't kill any necessary services though!

8 ) Update your browser. If you're using Firefox, there are some simple tweaks you can do to speed it up. Don't use a lot of add-ons, but make sure to use Adblock Plus!

9) Do Google searches on how to optimize your OS (there are tons for Vista, quite a few for XP).

10) Dust out your PC. Get a can of compressed air or a vacuum and eliminate all those heat sucking dust bunnies.

11) Ditch anti-virus and anti-spyware programs. As long as you keep your PC updated and don't visit any sketchy websites (read: porn/torrent sites) you should be fine. I've been using Vista without any protection aside from Windows Defender for over a year and a half and have had no problems.

12) For very old PCs, try out various Linux distributions. Ubuntu is the most popular but others may perform better.

13) Realize that tweaks and optimization can only take you so far. If your PC is more than 5 years old, it might just be time to get a new one.

14) Finally, have patience and realize that problems are inevitable from time to time. As long as you backup your data there's no need to stress. If you follow these basic guidelines and reinstall your OS on an annual basis, you'll avoid a lot of headaches and have a very fast, stable PC!

Thoughts of E3 09'

In less than an hour, the biggest gaming event this year, opens its doors for the last time till next year. The strange thing is, I'm noticing myself not really caring as much anymore. E3 use to be this show full of surprises and mystery, but the conferences really sum it all up. I watched maybe 2 hours of E3 coverage that wasn't a conference. It's all gameplay footage of stuff I already know about.

Aside from that, I feel that there was a huge problem this year. That was simply motion control. When did we as a gaming community clamour for a different way to play games? When did we say, "this controller really takes me out of the immersion." If anything, I've always felt less immersed in a game without a controller. When I play the Wii, I feel like a raving lunatic, swinging my arms around as if I was some blind man who lost his cane. I like playing games on a controller, because it works. None of the guaranteed bugs of collision detection, not properly picking up motions, or just not being as good as they promised. I've never been against motion control either but, I'm against this contest all the Big 3 are having.

For instance, Xbox 360 showed us Milo. Why? It's not a game, I can only see it implemented in choice games, and I really have no interest talking to a little Brit. My friends say, "It's showing us how far we've come!" But I say to that, "no!" A good example of how far we come is live streaming TV on your console, or watching movies with your friends regardless of where they are. That is a testament to how far we've come. That along with our graphics, hell even our game content is a good example. But this does not show me we have come that far. It's a trivial thing, that is going to waste our money and never be used again, like another Xbox live camera I know of.

Like I said, if Milo was in a game, I may be more excited for it, but I'm not. That was something more appropriate for CES or something. This motion control contest is about as trivial and useless as putting, oh I don't know, trains in Zelda... wait.

E3 09 and me
Soooo it's been long since my last blog and I was thinking of writing a new one
To start it off I m really very excited about the E3 as it's a few hours away and what it has for the gamers, the games that I m interested to see in action and that I have already seen but need some more juicy info about the titles.
Start with what the 360 has to offer or might offer and that I have some interest in.

Alan Wake (Have been waiting for long to see this game running and it would be great to get a release date)

Splinter Cell Conviction (As one my favorite gaming Franchise I looking very closely towards this one and the recent reports suggest that it's going to be awesome)

Mass Effect 2 (The first one was great and expecting the same from this one as well great characters and story)

Lost planet 2 (Interested about this one cause this one has answered the complaint I had with the first one that it was covered in snow and this one has a varied levels as compared to the first one, and I know it was supposed to be like that but you get tired of seeing all the white)

Halo ODST (It's a Halo need I say more, But really it's the new character that interests me lets see how the world thinks of a Halo without Master Chief)

Peter Molyneux's Next Project (No matter what People say about him or his big mouth but the plain and simple fact is that he makes some really good games and I loved both the Fables games as well as Black and White games, I am looking forward to what's he got to show) I would also like Microsoft to show some other stuff that the people don't even have a clue about like the last years FFXII thing.
Moving ahead to PS3, I don't have one at the moment but there are a few games that I am interested about Heavy Rain (interested about this one cause this one breaks the conventional norms that are followed by games and relies more on the characters and the story aspect of the game and it also looks amazing)

Uncharted 2 (You know it great looking game with great gameplay)

god of war 3 (Its god of war nuff said)

now about the Multiplatform games that I m interested about

Brutal Legend (My most anticipated game of the show)

Modern Warfare 2 (COD MW being my favorite game this gen it's got to be on the list and I can say it with ease that it will be among top three best games of the show if not the one)

Assassin's Creed 2 (Its odd some people loved it some not that much but I am from the first group and will be playing it when it comes)

Max Payne 3 (The best third person action games I have played the first two parts of the game hoping it will do all that)
Dirt 2 (My favorite Driving game from this gen so obviously I am anticipating it)

Beyond Good and Evil 2 (The first one was underrated but it loved it the style and the gameplay was awesome)

Dead Rising 2 (Killing thousands of Zombies isn't it fun)

Bayonetta (Looks amazing let's see what happens)

Bioshock 2 (First one was amazing all the elements of the game combined made it great use the plasmids with conventional weapons and the atmosphere played a lot of part in making it good)

Now about the PSP

Really interested in the reworked PSP the "PSP Go" what features will make the cut and what features will be cut from the new model. Also waiting to see littlebigplanet, Assassins Creed, Dirt 2, Army of Two and the new MGS on it. That's it for this E3

Virtual Kingdom Theme Park Consept

Ok, so here is an idea I came up with for the absolute coolest theme park ever designed called Virtual Kingdom. The idea is that it would be Disney's 5th park in Florida and would be geared towards and older audience. Here's the pitch I wrote in a Disney fan site forum:

Ok, here is an idea that I think would become something revolutionary. It's a theme park devoted to video gaming. I am a hardcore gamer and know that the gaming industry is becoming just as big as the film industry. Disney has started to get into the game with their own publishing arm and buying up a few studios, so why not bring the magic of gaming to Florida with a gaming based theme park? Ever wanted to experience your favorite gaming moments? Now you can...

The park would be called Virtual Kingdom and be geared towards an older audience sort of like Islands of Adventure, but have the entire park be based upon both classic and modern gaming franchises.

Attractions would be rated on content using the ESRB rating system used to rate the content of video games. These ratings are:

Everyone: Suitable for all audiences
Everyone 10+: Suitable for ages 10 and older
Teen: Contains content suitable for ages 13 and up
Mature: Not appropriate for anyone under 17

There would be six lands: Galactic Conquest, Mushroom Kingdom, Old School Central, The Streets, Main Stage and Mythical Palace.

Galactic Conquest: This land would be devoted to sci-fi and futuristic games.

Attractions:

Halo: Covenant Wars (Teen for violence)
Board a Warthog and blast your way to victory against the vicious Covenant onslaught. Based upon Microsoft's popular Halo franchise. This ride would use the Dinosaur ride system and give guests assault rifles to gun down targets who interact with the ride vehicle, depending on if you kill them or not. Each vehicle would seat 6 guests.

Star Fox The Ride (Everyone 10+)
Do a barrel roll with Fox and friends on this dark roller coaster ride through the galaxy! Based upon Nintendo's cla$$ic Star Fox franchise. This would be a pretty standard roller coaster with a highly themed beginning launch sequence.

Bioshock: Enter Rapture (Teen for violence and scary images)
The lost city of Rapture, a city of beauty and mystery as well as terror and destruction. Will you survive or become another victim of the Big Daddys? Based upon 2K Games first person shooter series. This would be a heavily themed boat ride filled with lots of advanced interaction scenes, including a large dramatic plunge, and several interactions with Big Daddy AAs.

Dead Space Experience (Mature for violent and disturbing images)
Dare to board a deep space mining ship and experience the horrors that Issac Clarke faced on his trip, if you survive that is. Based on EA's sci-fi horror franchise. This would be essencially a walk through haunted house with advanced audio anamatronics and lots of very intense moments. Not at all suitable for children.

Ratchet and Clank (Everyone 10+ for some crude and suggestive humor)
Join Ratchet and his trusty robot ally Clank as they journey into outer space in search of Ratchet's orgins. Based on Sony's action/platformer franchise. This would be an omnimover dark ride that follows a shortened story from the Ratchet and Clank series.

Mushroom Kingdom: This area is completely based on cla$$ic Nintendo franchises, especially Mario.

Attractions:

Super Mario Bros. Adventure (Everyone)
Board a shellmobile and aid Mario on his quest to save Princess Peach from the evil Bowser! This would be a dark ride using the same system as Journey Into Imagination following the basic story of the Mario games.

Mario Kart (Everyone)
One of the best racing party games is back and in real life! Board your kart, take out your opponents and get to the finsh line! This ride uses an advance go kart vehicle that stops and spins when hit by items activated when passing certain points on the track.

Mario Party Plaza (Everyone)
Play carnival $tyle games based on the Mario Party series.

Pokemon Central (Everyone)
Gotta catch 'em all! Create your own Pokemon, trade other guests and battle in the state of the art battle arena. The battle arena would allow guests to, for a fee, battle other guests using a hologram battle arena.

The Streets: Trash the urban landscape of a city filled with carnage, mayhem and zombies!

Attractions:

Grand Theft Auto: Turf Wars (Mature for Violence)
Choose your side and battle for turf in this highly interactive and immersive laser tag arena based on Rockstar Games' popular Grand Theft Auto franchise. Essentially this would be an open city block with buildings to hide in and defend as well as several interactive environmental areas such as destructible scenery and more. Extra fee required.

Left 4 Dead (Mature for Violence)
Can you and your friends survive the zombie apocalypse? Enter a dark city block and gun down zombies on your way to the safe room. Based on Valve Software's first person shooter. Guests in teams of four would enter a play environment with either a shotgun or machine gun. Then they encounter robotic zombies including smokers, boomers and the mighty tanks. Each player is equipped with a "bullet proof vest" that stores their three lives and keeps track of damage. Shoot down the enemies and reach the safe room alive in order to survive. Extra fee required.

Burnout: Road Rage (Teen for intense sequences of racing and action)
Are you ready for the ultimate racing experience? Board your racer and speed through a sleepy suburban town only to take down the competition and smash your way to the finish line! This highly advanced ride would use a combination of the Test Track vehicle system and the Kula arm technology. The vehicle would be attached to the arm and would speed through the highly explosive indoor environment. The centerpiece move is where the vehicle smashes into a truck and corkscrews in the air over another oncoming vehicle and lands safely onto another track beside it. Harnesses will be a required addition to the vehicle due to high speeds and the corkscrew section.

Psychonauts Boot Camp (Everyone 10+ for some Crude humor)
Dare to enter someone else's psyche with Raz and experience a trip through the mind unlike any other based upon Double Fine Productions' cult cla$$ic game. This would be simulator attraction with a film featuring the art $tyle and several environments from the game Psychonauts. At the end of the ride, guests can enter the Psychonauts Playground of the Mind and have your own boot camp adventure.

Main Stage: At the center of the park is Main Stage, which features a place for guests to try out the latest and greatest games as well as rock out live!

Attractions:

Rock Band Live! (Everyone 10+ for Lyrics)
Are you ready to become a rock star? Audition your "band" to compete with other bands in an all out battle of the bands! Guests would audition for judges using EA and MTV's Rock Band video game. If selected, a small group of bands will compete against each other and the audience will vote on who they think was the best ala American Idol.

The E3 Experience (Everyone to Mature)
Have you ever wanted to go to the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3)? Well now you can experience what it's like at Virtual Kingdom! Here is where you can try out some of the latest games from some of the industry's top publishers.

Mythical Palace: Journey into the world of fantasy and mythology based video games.

Attractions:

Assassin's Creed Stunt Show (Teen for violence)
Follow the great assassin Altier as he leaps, dives and fights his way to glory and honor! Based upon Ubisoft's action series.

God of War: Hydra Battle (Mature for intense action)
Follow Kratos as he battles the mighty Hydra in a scene from Sony's God of War. This would be a revolutionary audio animatronic show using hologram technology. The theater is actually placed above the show area. It's a circular room with two rows of seats in a giant circle around the ring of the theater. Guests are seated and pull down roller coaster quality harnesses, then the theater lifts into the air in a corkscrew rotation and the seats are tilted downward to reveal the floor has become a giant water tank where a huge hydra audio animatronic appears and is killed by a hologram/AA Kratos. During the show, the theater would spin to simulate an oncoming storm and at one moment would briefly drop to startle the guests. It would be a very tough to pull off attraction, but would be awesome if it worked out right.

Legend of Zelda: Temple of Time (Everyone)
Follow Link as he ventures forth to uncover the Ocarina of Time in this dark ride based upon the legendary Nintendo 64 game. The ride would use a trackless ride system in order to increase the level of immersion from each scene.

Soul Calibur: Battle of Souls (Teen)
Choose between Nightmare or Siegfried in a battle of the two great swords on this high speed inverted roller coaster adventure based on Namco-Bandai's Soul Calibur series. This would be a highly themed outdoor dueling inverted roller coaster ala Dueling Dragons that would include a couple brief indoor audio animatronic scenes explaining the origins of each side and a launch outdoors where the battle begins.

Old School Central: A land entirely devoted to the origins of gaming in all their 8 or 16 bit glory!

Kickin' It Old School (Everyone)
Ever wanted to hit blocks and jump through warp pipes in Super Mario Bros? How about play Pong in real life? Well here's your chance in this exhibit where guests can relive some of the cla$$ic moments of old school gaming, in real life!

Neighborhood Arcade (Everyone to Mature)
Play arcade games ranging from old school cla$$ics to more modern hits from across the globe and prove how good you really are.

Tron the Ride (Everyone 10+)
Board a lightcycle and race through cyberspace on a quest to save the virual world based upon Disney's cla$$ic film, Tron. The ride would use a perfected version of the Rocket Rods ride system, increasing the capacity of the vehicles and featuring two different paths. At the end of the ride, guests can pay a fee and battle in the Laser Disk Arena.

So there you go, that is what I would love to see become the Virtual Kingdom. I didn't include restaurants or meet and greets or other smaller attractions, mostly because it has taken me 2 hours to write all of that down. Let me know what you think and if you have any suggestions for new attractions or restaurants.

In order to build this, Disney would need to make deals with Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo, EA, MTV, Namco-Bandai, Ubisoft, Valve, Double Fine and 2K Games, as well as anyone else who would want to show their games in the E3 Experience, but if this was done, it would without a doubt be the most impressive theme park in the world.

So there you have it. What do you think?

New Gamertag
So i changed my gamertag yesterday. I was really bored of SRU aaront360 since ive had it for almost 2 and half years now. It is now Chronic Reeferr. I chose that because it reflects my passion for the chronic reefer (aka. really good marijuana.) I am still in SRU by the way. And since it isnt mandatory to have SRU in your name in our clan, then its not a problem. SRU Phil did the same thing and changed his gamertag to HackBook Pro cause he thinks hes good at hacking his mac or something(pft, loser. haha i kid i kid).and thats about it. goodbye now

Call of Duty 4 Beta, School, Football

In July Infinity Ward announced at E3 that they were having a beta for Call of Duty 4 on the Xbox 360 sometime in August. I was pumped for that after being a member of their site since day one. This past Wednesday they open up a lotto where you could send in an e-mail answering three questions and hope to get selected. While it wasn't a small choosing of people, it wasn't large. Days went by and I wasn't in, but finally today I got in. Checked my e-mail and their was my code and the congratulations from Infinity Ward. So I am glad to play it before the big rush of people come in on Monday once it becomes more available to the public of those who live in the U.S.

Tonight I played a little with Earthking and I must say the beta is amazing. There are three maps and each one is designed well and offers a great experience. The classes you can choose to be and the ranking system is cool too. I am normally a Heavy Gunner and have liked the weapons the class offers. Infinity Ward really has produced a game that will be great on the day it releases, this just from the beta. I haven't experienced much lag, so it has been good.

If you got in we need to play and start a Party Group. I love games that have a Party system built-in. The matchmaking has been excellent too.

Anyways, I start back up on school on Wednesday. So comes the end of my summer and here I go back to school to have loads of fun. I'll be glad to see my friends I didn't see in the summer, but by the third week I'll be wanting Christmas to come. Luckily Halo 3 comes out on September 25th! Less than a month now!

This week I get to go back to football to at least help out at practice. I am glad because I have been getting bored being at home since I had my tonsils removed. Then the following week I should get to practice again. I am excited for that to happen.

Anyways, Call of Duty 4 is something you need to sign-up for if you have a Xbox 360. Go to CharlieOscarDelta.com and on Monday those who live in the U.S. have a good chance to get. It'll be at 12:00 P.M. EST.

I Promise I'm Going To Start Posting Regularly Again

First of all, yeah, I know.  I haven't blogged in forever.  It's just I'm reaching the end of my school year, I'm getting work dumped on me, and to top it, my Xbox Live connection has been wonking out.    That's an interesting story actually.  I ditched my old wireless connection because it kept cutting out, and replaced it with a wired modem connection.  Then the wired modem connection kept wonking out.  I called Microsoft's and my ISP's tech support ungodly amounts of times, and neither one could help me.  It deteriorated into an age-old game of "It's their fault!"    Then I sat down and thought it through...and realized I'd forgotten to install the filters that separate my phone lines from my modem line.  Double

Getting back to the school thing, I typically have about an hour a day of free-time (before 7:00) and that was usually spent either playing on Xbox Live or trouble-shooting Xbox Live.  Fun.  Okay, I promise I won't mention the connection thing again.  On a brighter note, who remembers how much I love Splinter Cell?   I'm in love with Double Agent's online play, it's really different from anything else.  Playing as the spies especially is a blast.  It's one thing to sneak around AI-controlled bots, but it just takes exhilaration to a new level to sneak around real people.  It's great.  Anyways, I'll post again soon, and as summer quickly approaches it'll only get better.  Joy for summer!

Yesterday was my Bday
Yesterday I turned 15 and it was a fairly good day other then the fact that I'm getting older. I recieved about $35, $100 gift card to circuit city, the concert that I listed in my last blog post was a present, a new tennis raquet and a while back I got a razor phone, but I still don't see why everybody likes cell phones so much. They're not that great at all. So yeah, I'm a year older.
