New Editorship, CBS Cancels "As the World Turns"
Yesterday, to my surprised, I received notification from TV.com that I had become the new editor for one of my favorite TV shows - "The Soup" on E! Apparently, the previous editor retired and I was next in line for editorship.
In other news, CBS announced yesterday that it has cancelled the long-running daytime drama, "As the World Turns." This is the second CBS soap to be cancelled within a year (the first being, "Guiding Light" in September). Although I didn't watch "As the World Turns" or "Guiding Light", the news does not bode well for the remaining 6 soaps on ABC, CBS and NBC. Could daytime soaps as we know them be on their way out? NBC has only one soap left in its afternoon lineup ("Days of Our Lives"), which is up for renewal in March 2010. Although DAYS's ratings have gone up recently, could NBC get out of the soap business for good? "As the World Turns" cancellation leaves CBS with only 2 soaps left ("The Young and the Restless" and "The Bold and the Beautiful"), while ABC has 3 soaps left ("All My Children", "One Life to Live" and "General Hospital"). Soaps are an institution in the U.S. It's hard to imagine life without them, but that may actually happen in the not too distant future.
Oprah and James Franco
Oprah Winfrey announced today that she will be ending her talk show in 2011. She had a good run. Better to go out while you're still on top than when they want you to leave. Although how she's going to pimp for Obama in 2012 when she's no longer on the air, LOL.
In other news, James Franco makes his debut tomorrow on "General Hospital" as "Franco."
Happy Friday the 13th!!

Schwarzenegger to CA State Assembly: F*** You?!
California's Governor Arnold ("Ah-nuld") Schwarzenegger is being accused of including a hidden message in his veto of a bill using an acrostic poem that spells out F-*-C-K Y-O-U vertically across the left margins. He says it was coincidental, but receiver says it was intentional.
Read below and tell me coincidence or not? (emphasis added by me)
To the Members of the California State Assembly
I am returning Assembly Bill 1176 without my signature.
For some time now I have lamented the fact that major issues are overlooked while many
unnecessary bills come to me for condiseration. Water reform, prison reform and health
care are major issues my Administration has brought to the table, but the Legislature just
kicks the can down the alley.
Yet another legislative year has come and gone without the major reforms Californians
overwhelmingly deserve. In light of this, and after careful consideration, I believe it is
unnecessary to sign this measure at this time.
Sincerely,
Arnold Schwarzenegger
It's My Birthday!!
Today is my birthday!! I kinda partied a little too hard last night, but I still had to get up early and go to court this morning. I was not feeling well at all. I was about an hour late for court, but I did call in and let the court know so it was okay. However, I realized I didn't have my wallet with me. I only had enough gas in my car to get to court, but not enough gas to get back and this court was kinda far, 2 hours away. Luckily, I was able to call my cousin who lives on the way back and she met me at the gas station and filled up my tank. I didn't have any money for lunch because it was in my wallet along with my bank cards, but a friend had given me a Starbucks card for my birthday the night before, which I had in my car so I went to Starbucks and bought a sandwich and drink.

Jonathan Jackson returns to "GH" as Lucky Spencer
Breaking News: Jonathan Jackson, the original "Lucky Spencer" on General Hospital is coming back to the show... as "Lucky Spencer." The role is currently played by Greg Vaughn, but news reports say he decided to leave. Hmm, wondering about that since he was so adamant recently to refute reports that he was dropped to recurring status. In any case, welcome back Jonathan!

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen - Movie Review
Okay, I like millions of other people took to the movie theaters this weekend to see the new "Transformers" movie. I was eagerly anticipating the second one as I really enjoyed the first one. To be honest, I just thought the second movie was just okay. But the story was kind of thin and the movie was WAYYY too long (2 1/2 hours). It would be one thing if the movie was engaging at all points, but there was several times when I didn't know what was going on. It was hard to tell among the fact paced visuals and clanging noises which Transformers were Autobots and which were Decipticons and who I was supposed to be rooting for. Honestly, I fell asleep a few times during some of the fight scenes for a few seconds because they seemed tedious and went on too long.
Additionally, I found the humor kind of lame. A lot of the humor consisted of using foul language.
However, I'll give Shia an "E" for effort as he tried hard to make this movie work.
It seemed that as the first one was a succes, studio execs rushed production of this film to get into theaters just 2 years after the first one. They should have waited and made a better finished product. I know the movie made A LOT of $$, but that doesn't mean the movie lived up to the hype.

Michael Jackson Aftermath: WHY??
Okay, I've refrained from commenting on Michael Jackson and his death for a few days now, out of respect. Personally, I was not a fan and I do think he molested little boys. While I do understand that he was an international superstar in the world of music and, thus, his death warrants international press coverage, what I don't understand is why the media has now focused to all these conspiracy theories and why the police are launching this massive investigation. It seems like overkill, no pun intended.
I believe that ultimately Michael himself was responsible for his own death in some degree. He abused prescription drugs for years, knowing full well what he was doing and ingesting in his body. By his own admission, he first sought treatment/rehab in 1993 (around the time he was first accused of molestation), but I suspect he was using way before then. Flash forward 16 years later and his lifestyle finally caught up with him, i.e, his eating habits, his drug use, his surgeries, etc. He was not a 20 or 30 year old man anymore. He was approaching his 51st birthday this year in August. His body had been in a weakened state for years, the back pain, reported lupus, vitiligo and other diseases. All of a sudden, he wanted to get back into the spotlight by doing some farewell concerts. That's fine. But it appears he overexerted his body, dancing all day and using drugs to mask the pain. He knew EXACTLY what he was doing. What he didn't realize was that his body would say "no more." He was not to used to people saying "no" to him, as he surrounded himself with "yes" men and fired anyone who disagreed with him. Doesn't sound like a conspiracy there. But ultimately his frail body thought differently and gave way.
I don't understand why the police are expending all the time and energy interviewing all these people, doing all these searches, etc. They are expending way too much time and money when the answer is clear. The media is worse, overstretching a simple story to make the most of it, by coming up with all these conspiracy theories. The police and media would not do this for any other heart attack victim. With all due respect, the one responsible is MJ himself.

Perez Hilton v. Black Eyed Peas' will.i.am: Who Do You Believe?
Perez Hilton gets punched in the face!! True Story! On Monday, Perez got punched in the face in Canada after verbal altercation with Will.i.am from the Black Eyed Peas in which Perez called will.i.am a "f*ggott!!
Perez claims that will.i.am and the Black Eyed Peas' manager are responsible. will.i.am claims innocence saying it was a rabid fan overreacting to Perez's constant and insulting blogs aobut Fergie.
Canadian police have arrested Black Eyed Peas manager.
Questions:
#1) Did Perez bring it on himself?
#2) Who's telling the truth?
Honestly, I don't advocate violence, but Perez had this coming. It was only a matter of time before someone slugged him in his fat face. He spews so much venom, he couldn't possibly think it wouldn't come back to bite him in his fat ass. Why is he so shocked that someone would react violently to his venom? He actually hurts people's careers and lives with his lies and such. How naive is it for him to cry now and claim to be the victim.
