Start a War Static-X
""
Probably the 1 word to describe the whole album is "powerful." It's a very hardcore album but it is also kinda soft in its own little way. It has the hardcore, super-fast drumming, heavey guitar, and the screams from vocalist Wayne Static are as hard as they get. On the other hand it doesn't have to much variety. All the songs are heavey in some way, may it be the destrusitve sound of "The Enemy" or "I'm The One." Or it may be the lighter sound of "Just In Case." Plus they have some wierd songs like "Brainfog" where the keyboard really comes in handy. Overall the sound of this album was well done.

Static-X has always had 1 style to thier lyrics and that is to "destroy all" just like the track from the 2003 album Shadow Zone, "Destroy All." It doesn't change in this album. The lyrics are very meaningful but can get a little boring. The super-fast vocals on "Otsego Amigo" are just really cool. I do like the razor voice of vocalist Wayne Static but again that can get boring and annoying. Overall the lyrics could do use some more work.

My overall impressions on this album are that if you like Static-X, you should buy this album, If your into metal/hard rock music, you might wanna take a listen. My favourite song off this album has to be "Otsego Amigo." Just because of the bone-chilling lyrics. The least impressive song on this album is probably "Night Terrors." If you listen to the chorus you will find that the band took the rythm off of a Korn song. Well thats what I heard. Compared to other album's I have by artists like Slipknot, System Of A Down and Stone Sour, this album is definetly the heavier ones. And thats whats really cool about it. I really understood whats Static-X was trying to get across. Great album. I would recomend it.

Toxicity System of a Down

The sound of this album is a breathe of fresh air. Its so different from any other System Of A Down album or any album by any band. 1 of the things that makes this album so different from any other is the wierd sounds they make. For example the guitar solo in "Deer Dance" sounds so wierd. Thats the 1 thing I dont like about this album. The stupid sounds are pretty annoying. The guitaring was solid. The most inmpressive song on guitar has to be "Science." The drumming was great. The most impressive song on drums is probably either "X," "Chop Suey" or "Toxicity." The bass was really impressive especially in "Deer Dance" and was really cool in "Aerials." What I like the most about this album is that most of the songs are pretty easy to play.

Lyrics: The lyrics are meaningful, funny and a little wierd (in a good way). System of a Downs anti-government/war lyrics are really affective. I'm not kidding they made me rebel against stuff too. It's kinda contagious with this CD. System of a Downs singing is at its best on this album. Serj sings the best in "Chop Suey" and Daron sings the best in "Needles." It's all good though.

Toxcity is definetly System Of A Downs best album. It is a must listen to album. After listening to this CD I found out how creative System Of A Down can be. In my opinion, the best song on this album is "Science." All the tracks are really good but "Science" really stands out as the coolest. The intro reminds me of the BYOB intro. They are both awsome. The song I liked the least is "Needles." I think that it's just kinda stupid. The lyrics for that song are good at least. I would definetly recomend this album to any true rock fan.

-Lyrics/Vocals = The lyrics for the Black album were most defintetly the most personal for the band. You can easily tell. In my opinion the most personal songs on the Black Album were Nothing Else Matters, The Unforgiven and The God that Failed. The singing is alot better in this album.

-Musically = I am a musician myself (I play guitar) and in my opinion the music is what changed the most compared to Master of Puppets, Ride the Lightning, ...And Justice for All and Kill 'em All. It's not as fast paced as the other albums were and the guitar riff's are alot more catchy. The guitar solo's arent nearly as good as the previous albums. Alot more wah instead of shredding. The drums were pretty lousy on this album, the beats didnt seem to stand out like other albums. They were just really simple and kinda boring. The bass was really good on this album. You could hear it alot clearer. I love the intro to My Friend of Misery which is done on bass.

-Overall = The Black Album is an amazing album. I would reccomend it to anyone that likes Rock music. My favourite song from this album was probably My Friend of Misery or Enter Sandman. My least favourite song from this album was probably Don't Tread on Me.
