Aussie, Aussie, Aussie!!!

Oi! Oi! Oi!

I'm writing this quickly as the adrenaline is still coursing through my veins. My hands are shaking, and typing is slightly difficult-- I blame it on euphoria. It's World Cup 2006, and Australia has done what the world said they never could:

Australia has just (not 10 minutes ago) come up from what looked like a certain 1-0 loss against Japan to completely dominate the match in the last 10 minutes and score THREE goals to win 3-1. Wow, just wow! Talk about being completely juxtaposed-- not 20 minutes ago I was hurling abuse at the box as fast as my mouth could humanly hurl. Australia had dominated possession throughout the game but could NOT finish- it was painful to watch! Not only that, but they conceded a nasty goal about halfway through the first half that was CLEARLY obstruction and should have been disallowed (he pushed the goalkeeper out of the way!). Losing a goal to a referee's blunder is also *very* painful.

But Australia--oh boy, do I take it back. That was simple the most stunning finish to a game I have ever witnessed in my extremely long and involved football history. You sure showed them guys. Even if you don't like football- you can surely relate to the mixed emotions in such a short period that I just experienced: I don't know if I should laugh or cry, so I'm going to do a bit of both!

Sykotic... you're blogging now..... i didnt think you would do that, it doesnt seem your style

Meh.. who am i to judge

GO AUSSIES!!! Although they're doomed if they manage to finish the group stage. If they come second in their group, They will most likely play Italy (who will no doubt clean up their opposition in Group E) and, im sorry to say, get their asses kicked.

Still, that's no reason to be discouraged :S

About Me

My name's Pietro (est.1985)- but it's far easier saying 'Peter' so we'll leave it at that! I'm a pure-blooded Aussie born of two Italian-borne parents originating from Napoli...OK. That leaves me a consolidated smatter of Football-fanatic, Ferrari-fawner, competitive swimmer, passionate skiier, avid golfer - a red-blooded, true-blue Italian whose soil is firmly based in Melbourne, Australia but whose roots are in small village in the mountains of Naples. Like any Australian I adore sport, and take to it with abandon at every opportunity. I also have this fond passion for gaming, reading and (surprised?) writing. Gamespot has provided me with a thorough means to channel all my non-athletic, brain-powered leisure outlets. I have recently been honored with an invitation to the exceptional officer-team over at the Community Contributions Union. A large part of my interest at GameSpot has been to expand my writing ability and scope coupled with fuelling my insatiable appetite for the pursuit we love-- gaming. Subsequently, the CCU has proven to be both a canvas and a mentor to my writing technique, and I am eternally grateful for that opportunity and the educated (they'd like to think so!) friends I have garnered along the way. Needless to say, I've accepted the position and am giving it my all to ensure other participants receive the same attention and support that I did. Be sure to check out my reviews and blog entries and pop in and say "Hi!" over at the CCU, because I'm sure my twisted sense of humour and overly-descriptive discourse will provide AT LEAST a snicker or two-- a laugh here or there is just gravy.
