Ring
Inspired by the works of J.R.R. Tolkien, Swedish heavy metal veterans Jakob Samuel (vocals, drums & keyboards), Pontus Norgren (guitars, bass & keyboards), and Marcus Jidell (guitars, bass & keyboards) decided to join forces in a new project which they named, fittingly, Ring. And with their epic debut album, Tales From Midgard, in 2004, they held nothing back when it came to conjuring the sort of dungeons & dragons-themed fantasy metal reminiscent of elder statesmen like Dio, Armored Saint and Rainbow. ~ Ed Rivadavia, All Music Guide
