Bassist Harvie Swartz's debut as a leader puts the focus on his compositions and arrangements rather than his work as a soloist, although he has a few spots. Swartz utilizes an intriguing sextet also including pianist Ben Aranov, flugelhornist John D'Earth, cellist Erik Friedlander (on his first record date), drummer Peter Grant and percussionist David Charles. A wide range of moods are explored, spanning from the intense "Firewalk" to the melancholy "Leaving."
