The first of two volumes is comprised of three of the only four piano solos made by the obscure ragtime-oriented Alonzo Yancey (Jimmy's older brother), seven by the lyrical Jimmy Yancey (including "Death Letter Blues" which has a rare vocal) and six from the erratic but exciting Cripple Clarence Lofton. All three pianists are heard in prime form and contrast each other very well.
