Critic's Review

4.0 out of 5 stars José A. Estévez, All Music Guide
One of the band's biggest-selling albums, the Tommy Olivencia Orchestra scores greatly with talented vocalists Héctor Tricoche and Paquito Acosta. In spite of salsa's great change of fashion, the seasoned orchestra manages to combine the high sense of style and swing with the expected romantic content. Arrangers Máximo Torres, Cuto Soto, and Olivencia veteran Angel "Pajai" Torres ensure that the overall energetic style of the band takes first chair. "Lobo Domesticado" (sung by Tricoche) is one of the band's most notorious hits, but buoyant tunes like "No Me Tires la Primera Piedra," "Volveré," and "Lápiz de Carmín" (performed by Acosta) are equally wonderful. One of the band's most important albums, and after three decades of foundation, Tommy Olivencia and his powerful outfit keep going strong.
