Here's one of two recent releases of the great Malian acoustic guitarist, both typical. As usual, he plays a style rooted in traditional kora music, but shaded by blues and other guitar techniques from "outside." On one level Farka's work has links with both the "new age" of Fanta Sacko and traditionally based composers in other countries. But as Farka fans know, the results are very special. This one has English notes, though they're not very informative.
