Generation: The Best of Red Lorry Yellow Lorry by
Red Lorry Yellow Lorry!
Critic's Review
Andy Kellman, All Music Guide
A fine introduction to Red Lorry Yellow Lorry for the curious in the States, Cleopatra's Generation: The Best Of selects 13 of the Leeds group's finest moments prior to their signing with RCA for 1988's Nothing Wrong. It shares nine songs in common with 1986's Smashed Hits singles compilation, stretching out the time period covered by its predecessor a little and also including a couple of prime B-sides and some choice album material. The majority is culled from singles released prior to their move to RCA for 1988's Nothing Wrong. Although 12 of Generation's 13 selections can also be found on Cherry Red's (U.K.) exhaustive double-disc bonanza The Singles: 1982-1987, it's preferable for neophytes because it's cheaper, keeps things to the essentials, and is easier to come by.
