The New Orleans Rhythm Kings, a very significant early classic jazz group, broke up permanently in 1925. The name was revived during 1934-35 for three sessions that included the NORK's original trombonist George Brunies. Those 13 titles are joined by four songs from a Wingy Manone session dating from the same period on this Lp (plus a previously unreleased version of "Royal Garden Blues") released by the Australian Swaggie label. Although recorded during the formative period of swing, freewheeling dixieland is emphasized. Such top players as trumpeters Wingy Manone and Muggsy Spanier, trombonists Brunies and Santa Pecora, clarinetists Sidney Arodin and Eddie Miller and drummer Gene Krupa are heard in spirited form and on the final session singer Red McKenzie has five vocals.
