Unlike their proponent and benefactor, Oscar de la Rosa of la Mafia, who aided them in acquiring their contract with Sony, los Palominos tend to keep pretty stylistically close to center. Tejano and ranchera are the places they call home. With their warm sound and confident treatment of every song they touch, they are arguably the definitive voice of the genre. The charming vocal interplay between Johnny and James Arreola throughout the record is consistently understated and enjoyable. Johnny's deft accordion playing adds a vital element that serves his three brothers well. It's seldom that one comes across a collection spanning ten years that is so consistent in its quality and attitude. The songwriting and delivery is, without exception, inviting and mellow. So mellow, in fact, that the laid-back play list might tend to run together. The other side of consistency is homogeny. Though the group doesn't lack variety in its repertoire, this particular compilation does. Even so, 10 Aņos de Exitos does not suffer greatly and can be added to the list of very fine los Palominos collections.
