La Mejor Coleccion 2 by
Los Cardenales de Nuevo Leon!
Critic's Review

Norteño favorites los Cardenales de Nuevo León celebrate -- or rather keep celebrating, as there have been quite a few best-of compilations released by the group's label, Disa -- their 20-plus years in the business with La Mejor Coleccion 2. Though the album draws songs from throughout the group's lifetime, there is a focus more on the latter part of their discography (there are five songs, "Esa Chica Baila," "No Debo Amarla," "No Confundas el Amor," "Mi Amante," and "No Vales la Pena" off 2003's Paso a la Reina), which means that some of the band's earlier hits (many of which are included on numerous compilations, Historia Musical or La Mejor Coleccion, for instance) are left off to make room for these others. Still, many of los Cardenales de Nuevo León's biggest songs -- "Mi Cómplice," "Necesito Decírtelo" (performed live here), and "Compré una Cantina" -- make the cut, and coupled with what will probably become future norteño anthems, La Mejor Coleccion 2 is a good record for anyone wanting to improve their knowledge about the prolific Cardenales.
