“Our album 'The Cage' is a concept piece that revolves around a carnival sideshow,” Kate Robins says, “but the people in it aren’t freaks of nature. They’re normal people like you and me, but what’s being exploited is their defense mechanisms against pain and loneliness.”
“We want our music to hit people the same way any song does when they turn on the radio, where they like the beat, they like the melody, it’s catchy, it’s memorable, but at the same time, we want them to get the sense that we’re drawing from a deeper well,” Neil Robins says. “That we’re pulling from musical backgrounds the average band doesn’t pull from. That we’re writing from concepts people maybe haven’t put into words but have felt all along. I’m really excited about the way the album has turned out, because I think we’ve gone to a place that’s musically different, yet at the same time we find the music resonating with all types of people. As an artist, there’s not much that makes me happier than that.”
