Burlington, MA Rounder Records is pleased to announce the DVD release of Alison Krauss A Hundred Miles or More: Live From The Tracking Room on November 11, 2008. The DVD features Krauss, one of the purest and most original voices in American music, performing songs from her critically acclaimed solo album, A Hundred Miles or More: A Collection (Rounder) with members of her highly-regarded band, Union Station, and special guest musicians. It also features memorable duets with country superstar Brad Paisley, legendary singer/songwriter James Taylor, British rocker John Waite, and an infectious take on Sawing on the Strings with one of Krauss longtime idols, Tony Rice, and musicians Sam Bush and Stuart Duncan joining Union Station members Barry Bales, Ron Block, Jerry Douglas, and Dan Tyminski. Other guest musicians featured on the DVD are Steve Cox, John Hobbs, and Greg Morrow.

Originally taped as a GAC television special, this DVD is set in a recording studio environment to re-create the making of many of the tracks featured on Krauss album, A Hundred Miles or More: A Collection. The DVD offers an intimate look at how Krauss works in the studio environment. One of the songs featured is Krauss single Simple Love, written by Sarah Siskind who also penned Goodbye Is All We Have. Guest musicians Gordon Mote (piano) and Abraham Laboriel Sr. (bass) join Krauss for this very special performance.

Among highlights of the DVD is Krauss duet with Brad Paisley on Whiskey Lullaby, which won CMA Song of the Year, Musical Event of the Year and Music Video of the Year honors in 2005. Paisley tells GAC cameras that when he first heard the song, he felt convinced that Alison Krauss had to be part of bringing it to life. I knew that having her on it was the magic that would make that song timeless, Paisley says. I felt the song needed that angelic voice. When I get to heaven and I hear the angels sing, if they are anything less than Alison Krauss, well, Im going to have to come back.

The DVD also features the duet Lay Down Beside Me, on which Krauss teams up with John Waite, her 2003 Grammy-winning collaboration with James Taylor on Hows the World Treating You?, a country music classic first recorded by the Louvin Brothers in 1961, and the newly recorded, previously unreleased, Shadows gleaned from Tony Rices catalog and featuring him on guitar.

Taylor, himself a multiple Grammy-winning performer, says he jumped at the opportunity to work with Krauss on the song and on the GAC special. I revere the Louvin Brothers, but working with Alison on this project was the main attraction, Taylor says. That she would put our duet on her album is really a feather in my cap.

Krauss who has earned more Grammy awards - 21 in all - than any other female artist, talks about her successful musical career, her lifes journey and what shes learned along the way.
