The oddity about this soundtrack album from the Bing Crosby-Danny Kaye movie musical is that, apparently for contractual reasons, co-star Rosemary Clooney has been replaced on record by Peggy Lee. The Irving Berlin score combines oldies like the title song and "Blue Skies" with a few new ones, such as "What Can You Do With A General." Although successful at the time of its release, the entire production was a throwback to the war years.
