The difference between this release and King's previous work is astonishing. From the opening bars of "Simplify" to the beautiful closing of "Grace," A Room Full of Stories is the work of a mature artist, a truly gifted songwriter, and an excellent guitarist. Musically the songs on this album are melodic, unique, and complex: they are also instantly memorable, with the strong melodic hooks King has become known for. King continues to develop lyrically as well, addressing difficult subject matter such as personal relationships, hectic lifestyles, and striving to lead a Christian life through difficult times. King's facility with words is apparent, as instead of relying on clichés or lazy rhymes he uses each line to full, poetic effect. The production on this album showcases King's strong acoustic guitar work, demonstrating his proficiency much better than previous efforts. In addition to the number one hit "Remember," this release includes King's most emotionally powerful song yet, "Thought You'd Be Here." This album is a surprisingly strong leap forward for an underrated artist.
