Hitchcock is an album-oriented artist with an extensive oeuvre, so this 20-track anthology of '80s material is best valued as a summary of selected career highlights for those who don't want to collect all of his full-length efforts. As such, it does a decent job, offering college radio hits like "Egyptian Cream," "My Wife & My Dead Wife," "The Man with the Lightbulb Head," and "Heaven," along with less-heard cuts from early-'80s albums that some listeners may have missed. This has nothing from his A&M records of the late '80s and early '90s and so couldn't properly be considered a career-spanning best-of (highlights of the A&M period are on A&M's Greatest Hits). It's well-packaged, though, with liner notes featuring detailed comments on the tracks by Hitchcock himself.
