Critic's Review

3.5 out of 5 stars Jim Brenholts, All Music Guide
Ma Ja Le is Chris Short and Paul Vnuk Jr.; Dreams in the Orchards of Saturn is their debut CD. They recorded the music live in concert as they improvised. They had a structure within which to work, but no preconceived pattern -- they merely let their moods determine the composition. This is a set of deep, dramatic electro-tribal ambience. Short's wizardry on the electronic guitar sets the stage for Vnuk's ethnic percussion. Both artists perform on synths and loops. Short's flute gives the soundscape a little extra panache. This album will appeal to fans of Biff Johnson, Steve Roach, Robert Rich, and Todd Fletcher. It is an important CD for casual and essential for serious e-music collectors.
