Sam Rizetta is an odd crossbreed of Henry David Thereau, Charles Darwin, Pocahontas and Uncle Tupelo. He and his wife, Carrie, are biologists and naturalists as well as folk musicians, and they hand-make and design their own instruments (compact hammer dulcimers, fretted dulcimers, "Rizetta Extended Range" dulcimers, Butterfly harps, tubular bells, Native American flutes...). Their recordings are dedicated to the proposition that music all too often ignores the natural world. This album features two half-hour tracks, each full of authentic ocean sounds and casually meandering dulcimer and flute improvisations (decorated with chimes and other gentle percussion).
