Mighty Joe is a Chicago-based folkie with a big voice, a passionately active social conscience, and no fresh ideas. He produced the CD himself, and did pretty well -- he captures a coffeehouse feeling with his focus on loud, bright acoustic guitars, and adds some nice decorative touches. But his overearnest, Neil Diamond-ish vocals quickly become tiresome, and his songs leap endlessly from cliche to cliche (the song titles include "Do Unto Others," "Miss You Baby," "Walkin' Up the Hill" and ten other phrases which have been used in dozens of other songs).
