Ray Campi returns back to California, where he cut all those Rollin' Rock records in the '70s, gets together with a bunch of old friends, and seemingly picks up right where he left off with this spirited session. Everything is firmly in the rockabilly-'50s country mold, and the core band of Campi on upright bass, Rip Masters on piano, D.J. Bonebrake on drums and producer Skip Heller on guitar provides a solid backdrop throughout. Guest turns from Dave Alvin, Stan Ridgway, Sheryl Farber, Tony Gilkyson, Greg Leisz and Michael Dubin keep the proceedings full of surprises and fuel tracks like "Lorena," "The One Who Got Away," "Luther Plated Guitar," "Burning In Water, Drowning In Flame" and "Little Love Lies." A solid modern-day rockabilly and roots music session.
