This is one time where Collectables Records gets a lot of credit, for issuing a 19-song 76-minute best-of CD on a British progressive rock act that never found more than a couple of years' success in America back in the 1970s. The sound is very good and the selection covers a cross section of Be Bop Deluxe's work, from Futurama through Drastic Plastic. Most of their best work is represented, with Bill Nelson's 12-string playing (and the rest of his guitar work) on "Modern Music" coming out downright radiant here. The mix of material is some of the most engaging in the group's output, soaring rockers like "Bring Back the Spark" and "Forbidden Lovers" juxtaposed with art rock balladry such as "Ships in the Night" and "Electrical Language" (one of the great progressive rock guitar showcases). The annotation is fair, covering the group's and Nelson's histories, although they don't refer enough to the contents to identify the significance of what listeners are hearing in the group's output. ~ Bruce Eder, All Music Guide [-] Collapse
