In the late 1950s, cornetist Rex Stewart and clarinetist Buster Bailey were often miscast as Dixielanders; Bailey in particular had so much technique that he tended to tear into many songs in an almost self-satirical manner. Together the two (along with trombonist Vic Dickenson, pianist Marty Napoleon, bassist Arvell Shaw and drummer George Wettling) are at their most colorful on such romps included here as "High Society," "Jazz Me Blues" and "Weary Blues." Originally released by Design and decades later reissued as a Simitar CD in 1998, the music is fun and full of spirit, if not all that essential.
