This two-LPs-on-one CD compilation from Collectables was previously available directly from Capitol, and it's worth owning for the 12 tracks off of She's Just My Style, which was the best record that Gary Lewis & the Playboys ever cut. The digital remastering brings out the hard rocking sound on those cuts and especially on the guitars, and it is truly bracing. Apart from "Sha La La" and "Dreamin'," the first dozen tracks on this disc are pretty forgettable, if not downright dire -- only hardcore Lewis fans need concern themselves with the other ten tracks off of Everybody Loves a Clown -- but this is the easiest way to get those 12 hot rocking cuts off of She's Just My Style. Ideally, one starts the CD player at track ten and enjoys it from there on.
