"Blue" Gene Tyranny, All Music Guide
Commissioned by Poc in Lichen, Paris in 1991, the first part of this composition for orchestra develops relatively quick single telegraphic, chanting lines that seem to evolve into eternity supported by sustaining bridges of rich harmonies. In the second part the long lines are replaced by the reiterative, rhythmic bowing of open harmonies on the strings (like a celestial fiddle music) with gentle rhythmic patterns in much longer values in the other instruments. A rich and positively emotional sound which truly is beyond recognized stylisms.
