Trad Arr Jones by

Critic's Review
Steven Kurutz, All Music Guide
Both an acknowledgment to his roots and a tribute to British folky Nic Jones, Trad Arr Jones is an album of traditional folk songs based on Jones' sympathetic and unique arrangements. "The Singer's Request," with its gothic melody, sounds as if it was meant to be played in a monastery, and "William Glenn" tells the story of a mysterious sailing trip -- in other words, the album's subject matter harkens back to a much earlier time. Seeing as how the instrumentation is little more than an acoustic guitar, it's only through Harding's conviction and compelling voice that he is able to get away with such an obscure project, and even then, this album is really only for diehard fans of English folk.
