Critic's Review

3.0 out of 5 stars Jason Ankeny, All Music Guide
This five-track EP assembles the early independent singles which first earned Cibo Matto notice in hipster circles, in some cases offering radically different renditions of material which later resurfaced on the Viva! La Woman album. The most startling is "Know Your Chicken," which appears in a wonderfully scuzzy rendition heavily influenced by the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion (whose Russell Simins sits in on drums); the real treat, however, is a wonderfully loopy cover of Soundgarden's "Black Hole Sun," rearranged like a lounge favorite and sung in French.
