Live at Great American Music Hall, San Francisco by

Critic's Review
Jason Ankeny, All Music Guide
Without an official career retrospective in sight, Live at the Great American Music Hall, San Francisco serves as perhaps the most accessible introduction to the enduring brilliance of the Bevis Frond, distilling many of the high points from Nick Saloman's sprawling discography into a single live set. Truth be told, there's not a great deal of difference between these renditions of Frond classics like "New River Head," "Lights Are Changing," and "He'd Be a Diamond" and their original studio incarnations anyway -- backed by only a bassist and drummer, Saloman easily captures the ramshackle psychedelic spirit of his albums, delivering a noisy yet intimate performance representative of his finest work.
