Along with Jet Set's Skatalite! and Trojan's Music Is My Occupation, this collection from Culture Press focuses on the Skatalites' fine work for producer Duke Reid from roughly 1962-1965. Rivaling the contemporary work they did for producer Clement Dodd (see Heartbeat's excellent two-disc set Foundation Ska), the band's Reid sides take in many classics, including "Eastern Standard Time," "Don-De-Lion," and "Latin Goes Ska." These and 12 other top cuts are heard here, making for a disc that ranks in between the top-pick Trojan release and a rather slim Jet Set record. But beware, as there's quite a bit of song overlap between all of these discs.
