As exciting as a live show by Central Figures is, their album has its own infectious appeal. On the first track, "Memory Down",there is some excellent electric rhythm guitar work and some meticulous drumming. Unfortunately, the bass guitar work comes off a bit weak, lacking in drive and originality. The same is true for the second track, "Between Two Worlds." This does not make the two songs a bad experience, but in comparison to the guitar, drums, and vocals, the bass work is lacking vitality. When the third tune,"Miss Noble" came up, it was as if a new bassist took over, because now there were some innovative bass riffs cutting loose with a powerful presence in the melody. All this, bound together by great harmony vocals and a vibrant lead guitar solo, make this a sure favorite. "Passing Me By" shows the acoustic side of Central Figures, and a very creative and melodic side it is -- very impressive acoustic guitar laced with an attractive complimentary rhythm section. "Last Last Chance" also falls into the same groove as "Passing Me By" with an intriguing melody that has a virtual hook. The best tune on the album is "The Other Voice" with its powerful guitar playing, rich and vibrant vocals, and an unrelenting rhythm section. This album has many attractive qualities, the most important being the originality and tightness of the musicians and compositions. What the future has in store for the band with the loss of drummer Rusty Crowe is uncertain, but this album will remain a favorite for many. ~ Larry Belanger, All Music Guide
