This 1990 comeback album from the queen of French absurdist pop finds the singer again working with her '70s collaborator, Areski Belkacem, in the production role. The candid folk of their '70s work has been engulfed by modern studio trickery and complex instrumentation courtesy of Belkacem and Gong's Didier Malherbe, who frequently collaborated with the Paris duo. Balancing progressive rock and modern pop vocabulary proves quite a task with the complex text arrangements of Brigitte Fontaine, who is center stage in all of her idiosyncratic glory at the beginning of a much-anticipated career revival -- one of the most progressive and talented artists to come out of the '70s' French pop scene.
